Boxing will never return to what it once was. I full believe its forever stuck as a niche sport. Those who get ****y towards main****** every time an event draws well fails to realize overall popularity continues to wane.

Showtime didn't necessarily bring in new fans to the sport last year, but rather "steal" the audience normally tuned in to HBO when they had most of the big names. That audience is now diminishing. Both networks are feeling it, on their flagship stations and in pay-per-view sales.
Showtime was doing record ratings last year so overall their numbers have never been huge and HBO is managing to do well despite a lack of star power. Although I think they might now include the pvr recording in their rating. More consistent numbers overall then a few years ago. This card had very little hype and the budget was a joke, but hey it delivered in action like you said.

Those numbers don't look so bad now.
      Another Haymon special.

Let's see how long this keeps up at SHO.

The next 2 or three years will be interesting, because the fighters themselves will keep expecting to get paid more than they are worth, Networks will not want to shell out as much, and the promoters stuck in contractual guarantees with fighters will keep looking to PPV as a way to recoup revenue. All that will do is help snuff out a flame barely left lit.

Fighters are going to have to start realizing the market is shrinking and their paydays will have to also to keep the sport, as a whole, alive on any network. For those who think that day is not possible, think again.

Seems like one big fail to me given how much they spent on it. The fights were pretty good so I can't complain on that aspect though. It's funny how the big winner of that card was Lomachenko who will now head back to HBO for his next fights.

Showtime's expenses are going through the roof.

ESPN Friday night fights gets better #s than this.

Showtime boxing doesn't know how to build stars, and it shows.

This is what happened when haymon had pull at HBO. *****s like Dawson were banking 2 mill a fight for crap no one even tuned in to watch.

Now Showtime gets this mess. Haymon has to go.
