Right now Al needs Golden Boy and GB needs him. It is a relationship built out of need. It is a beneficial arrangement.

If Oscar was smart, he would give Al fighters who are signed with GBP also preferential treatment and better cards to fight on compared to the non signed fighters(with Floyd being the exception). That might force a few stragglers to sign up with them also. You need to protect your investments and not leave them on shaky ground.

If they work together, they should risk together. They may like the hand shakes and the smiles, but loyalties can change in a heart beat and you need signatures on a dotted line.

no surprise there...haymon is a manager and not a promoter and his fighters need a promoter. gbp is still the best option they have...not tmt as what some fanboys like to say.

GBP should take back control over their affairs by building up new fighters. They need to stop relying on Haymon who's been doing damage to boxing. How can you tolerate Guerrero fighting an unknown in favor of these bigger names: Thurman, Matthysse, Garcia, Broner, Alexander, Peterson, Porter, Khan, Guerrero, Berto, Lopez, Ortiz, Maidana. He fought Berto and that's it.

It's almost becoming impossible to make these Haymon fighters fight each other because it's too expensive. Why fight a high risk fighter when you can get $1 million for fighting a nobody?

Look at the sample matchups that can be made with the number of recognized fighters Haymon have,

        Broner vs Matthysse/Alexander/Peterson/Porter/Garcia/Thurman/Khan/Guerrero/Berto/Lopez/Ortiz

        Alexander vs Peterson/Garcia/Khan/Broner/Guerrero/Berto/Lopez/Ortiz/Thurman

        Peterson vs Porter/Garcia/Broner/Thurman/Berto/Lopez/Maidana/Alexander

        Porter vs Thurman/Peterson/Garcia/Matthysse/Broner/Khan/Guerrero/Berto/Lopez/Ortiz/Maidana

        Garcia vs Broner/Peterson/Porter/Thurman/Guerrero/Berto/Lopez/Ortiz/Maidana

        Matthysse vs Porter/Broner/Guerrero/Berto/Lopez/Ortiz/Maidana/Khan/Ortiz

Thurman vs and so on and so forth...

Of course it's still strong, Haymon would be shyt out of luck without Golden Boy.

TR fighters fight each other, win or lose. Haymon fighters are glorified tuneup artists. They're fond of fighting TBA and TBD (to be announced, to be decided.)

Nor can he obtain a license to promote due to violation of the Ali act being that you cant promote a fighter with whom you manage. Shaefer has some sort of stipulation in his contract with GBP which prevents him from becoming a rival promotional entity as well. If anyone is going to become a full fledge promoter it's going to have to be Floyd which brings up an interesting question. If Gomez is stating that GBP and Haymon have a good working relationship and will continue to do business with one another, why did Floyd jump ship once Shaefer left?
I've heard non-competes aren't legal in California, and I think thats whose law GB's contracts are under, at least from what I remember from the whole Guerrero situation.

Haymon may have worked with GB, but Floyd only seemed to have worked with Shaeffer, the GB owner was kind of a **** to him the whole time

No Schaefer and Haymon are snakes because the relationship bihind Oscars back, and letting all those boxers go to Haymon without putting up a fight. That's what you call a snake like person those who stab you on the back.

TR fighters fought each other because they had no choice. It was rematch after rematch. Bob wasn't putting on the best shows possible, just the only ones possible. I don't which Haymon fighter except Gary Russell you've known to fight TBA and TBD
