Every boxing median member reported that Mayweather was the first big pro fighter to request random blood testing (Mosley fight).

HBO 24/7 even covered it (I'm sure you hate Showtime).

I've never been against random testing or extra testing to be employed across the board. I didn't like the spirit in which it was requested by Mayweather's team. They basically started a public smear campaign about Pacquiao before making the request.

Instead of discretely and privately discussing it in the negotiations for the fight as has been done by Eddie Hearn/Team Brook and countless others. Most people here don't even know that Abraham has it in his contract because it was done discreetly. It wasn't an attempted publicity stunt.

If Porter doesn't want to accept the testing, then fine. I couldn't care less. Drop the belt.

They didn't initially try to publicly smear Pacquaio when the random drug test was made. It was a simple request. But when it was rejected, or stipulations and so forth were wanted because of it -- all hell broke loose and it got out of hand. Even the mere fact that it was requested, that should've been kept private. It was such a mega fight that things were being leaked to the media. And neither side realized that this fight was so huge, that it needed to be discussed super privately.

On these boards, people seemed to focus on the request rather than the refusal. Even worse, they supported Pacquiao's refusal. That's what I recall but you have now clarified that you would've been in favor of Mayweather's request if only he had asked nicely. Anyway, I'm glad the sport has come this far regarding testing and obviously the next step for the elite fighters in the US should be the year-round kind. At a minimum, they should all have WADA-type testing for each bout they sign.

Yes they did. Mayweather's father was making accusations immediately after the Cotto fight and it snowballed from there.

There's already enough Mayweather/Pacquiao threads so lets just end this now. We agree, the negotiations should have been kept private.

In the lower classes the only thing that a boxer will benefit from is his endurance, only the slightest little bit in terms of power because you just do not gain that sort of strength.

Could this be the reason that Team Porter is stalling on singing it? Are they shook by this condition?

We all saw how Porter, who'd been a fairly ho-hum run of the mill fighter until recently, suddenly looked like a mini Tyson against Malignaggi.

Paulie himself was shocked and said he'd never been hit like that before. He ended up with a brain bleed if I'm not mistaken. He said he'd not been concerned about Porter's power before because he hadn't really KO'd anybody. He seemed to be intimating that Porter might be on something.

And perhaps most importantly, Porter is American.....so there's that. He isn't randomly tested year round.
