(He has me on Ignore so I can't respond to his thread but I think this thread is worthy as a stand-alone one because the result of my hypothesis shows why boxing discourse on this site is essentially a futile exercise).
Seeing Larry crap all over Lomachenko's win was nothing out of the ordinary if you understand Larry's posting patterns. However, one thing struck me when I saw the posting in question - Larry saying he wasn't a fan of Gary Russell Jr, meaning therefore he came from an impartial standpoint.
Now, I couldn't actually remember Larry ever saying he WAS a fan of GRJ - but I just couldn't shake the feeling that he indeed was one......again, it comes back to posting patterns. And I simply couldn't shake the feeling that this was simply a case of a butthurt poster refusing to give credit to a fighter who undressed the one they wanted to win.
So i did a little digging around (while having my morning dump).
The question I asked myself before I started my investigation was - is LarryXXX a fan of Gary Russell Jr, and as such, lied about not being a fan because it suited his agenda to belittle Loma's achievements?
Or was LarryXXX actually telling the truth - that he wasn't a fan of Gary, and as such, his criticisms, all the usual blathering about lineal titles, about Loma came from a more neutral place than one normally associates with LarryXXX?
Let's find out (I will make occasional interjections in bold).
THREAD TITLE - "Cant wait to see Gary Russell perform live"
This thread is interesting because Larry defends Gary fighting an over-matched opponent by comparing him in a favourable light to Wladimir Klitschko, Mike Tyson and Joe Louis, using them as a measuring stick
