Some of you guys are making me shake my head, acting like he doesn't deserve a fight with a big name, like a Danny Garcia, Mayweather or a Manny Pacquiao.

please just leave, this guy is a much better version of Paulie Malignaggi. He is also a way more skilled fighter than Maidana, he used to box circles around Maidana and Rios in sparring, he is no joke. I am telling you right now learn boxing, this guy just amazed everyone who is unbiased, he put on a helluva a fight, showed he can overcome adversity and boxed the sox off of the most feared man at 140 with one eye shut. What's scary is he is just going to get better, he is one of those older fighters that will fight longer because they stay in good shape and eat healthy year round.

I favor him over Danny Garcia and Manny Pacquiao. Garcia struggled with Herrera and got a gift, and Pacman will get knocked out going forward trying to chase him, he gets caught with a right hand because Pacman always moves forward with his hands down for some reason.

I even favor him over Mayweather he is a nuisance, he moves too much for Floyd, Floyd only likes flat foot guys who he can grapple with inside and hold on to dear life.

he doesnt deserve a big name, he beat one solid fighter at 140. maidana and malignaggi proved themselves, they beat better fighters and more of them than algieri and deserve to be rated higher.

sparring is sparring and fighting is fighting, you dont get fights based on sparring. he is a paper champion, in fact he is the definition of the term. there is only one champion and at 140 thats garcia, even compared to the other paper titleholders algieri is less accomplished and tested.

he did box very well, but its one fight against a very limited opponent who is far from the most feared man in the division. the most overhyped and overrated perhaps, but not feared. i was saying that before he lost to algieri too btw.

there are levels to boxing. algieri does have the style to trouble floyd, manny and garcia. but does he belong at that level? he sure as hell hasnt proved that he does. provodnikov is a level or two beneath garcia, who is another two levels beneath pacquiao and mayweather. no kind of performance against provodnikov will be enough to prove to me you can beat either one of those three, its not hate its just realism. algieri needs to step up his level of competition and earn a shot at them.

id like to see him in with peterson or matthysse. then garcia if he comes out on top and after that you could talk mayweather and pacquiao if he were to beat danny too.

Algieri is a promoter's dream...if he doesn't fight Pac its not because the fight won't sell...its because Pac (and Roach) are afraid he might lose. Roach don't want to lose two in a row to the kid who would be a HUGE underdog yet again against Pacquiao.....everything to lose fight for Pac. Unless they underestimate Algieri and think its an easy win...if so he will surprise Roach and promoters twice

Naw, Peterson with his IBF strap is a paper champ, how did he still get to keep that belt after testing positive for roids and getting suspended?

This why I think the IBF belt is one of the most corrupt and biggest joke belts.

Another paper champion was that guy Rico Ramos, Rigo beat him for the WBA belt and it didn't make Rigo the man he just took the belt from a paper champ, he only solidified his stature as a true champ when he out pointed Nonito Donaire who held the top dog status in that division.

Rigo is now the man at 122.

But he was a paper champion when he won the title from a paper champion named Rico Ramos.
