He is fighting in the afternoon in front of 50 people because his stardom was all ****ing hype man; one of the worst cases of it on HBO's part and a sign of things to come.

The dude had no fans, no grass roots following. No one ever liked him. There were like 200 people in the damn audience for Tarver-Dawson II. HBO gave him a bunch of money and showcased him every chance they got, but no one ever liked his ass and that's why he has no pull now that he has no title.

Skills don't pay the bills. Fans do.

He was heavy and fighting some nobody but the fight was thrown together on like 3 days notice so I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt here. Maybe now Haymon can get him a live body and he can get in shape but this should be his last shot, he is the epitome of so much unrealized potential.

I think Haymon recognised the first thing to fix with Dawson; his confidence. He needs wins. He must have had none after being dismantled by Ward then flattened by Stevenson.

What worries me though is that the words coming from Dawson on what went wrong in those fights are not promising of improvement. His "mistakes", as he calls them, were not training or technique or over confidence etc. It was fighting in the opponents back yards? As that really contributed to both his defeats.... time will tell if he learned his real lessons.
