  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya on Which Fighters are Signed To Golden Boy

When Richard Schaefer left Golden Boy Promotions it was discovered that a lot of fighters who appeared to be under the Golden Boy banner were probably not contractually signed to the promoter. It isn’t certain how many fighters have existing contracts with Golden Boy but what is certain is that majority of them are signed with powerful advisor Al Haymon.

BoxingScene caught up with Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya and asked if he knew how many fighters were actually signed to his company and how many were not.

Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions will be just fine, Oscar started that company with a vision in mind and he will continue to move forward just like he says he will.

The other Haymon fighters are screwed. Where are they going to go now? Money Mayweather's TMT is not even licensed. He's one of the top Forbes' wealthiest people but can't even commit to a full pledged promotional company. Then Haymon is banned by HBO. Frankly, these people's future is grim. What will happen if Haymon can't provide fights for them? What will happen to their families?

Not exactly a strong statement by Oscar.

He lists Saturday's card, the Canelo pay per view, and FOX dates.

Oscar is in a win win position if he plays his cards right. Don't let any Al Haymon fighters fight on your cards anymore. Its that simple

You know Oscar is ****** because he let Canelo fight Lara.

That's the last guy Canelo should be fighting, let alone The possibility of letting Canelo lose to a haymon fighter.

Oscar is done, no fighter is going to stick w him. Canelo is all he has, he better prey to the fishnets he wins, or GBP will be done. The few fighters GBP has under contract is next to nothing, they'll leave first chance they get.

Oscar will be fine as long as he does good.business over the next year. If he doesn't live by his word, the handful of guys he has (and it sounds like that's all he has) will leave him foy heymon or TR. Heymon is far from screwed, anyone who thinks a liscence is gonna hold up these guys is crazy. They are puttibg their company together without mayweather, if necessary. Scheaffer and al are tight with showtime and will bring far more to the table than most other promoters. The Heymon list putsvall the other stables to shame, he has the VAST MAJORITY of the talent pool and can put on major fights for years just on in-house fights. Look what uncle Bob has done with a limited stable lately.

                    Believe This

Shaefer and TBE-NOT-will wind up in bed together. Oscar can do great and forget about his being impaired with the drug rehab thing. Oscar is the man. Fraud is the fool and Schaefer will play the fanged phantom in Dracula goes to Rehab in Drag soon to be a Showtime series. The egos groan so loud they drown out the sound of blue whales mating.
