He needs to be aggressive and cut off the ring vs Lara. With the political landscape going on right now Lara is going to have to kill Canelo to get a draw no way I see him winning on the cards.
Is Canelo going to be aggressive against Lara?

If Canelo can't hurt Lara he will not win, whether he boxes or fights aggressive, he needs to be able to stun or drop Lara. I expect Canelo to be aggressive against Lara because he will have learned from the Mayweather fight. He had to have been embarrassed with the way he fought Floyd in retrospect. He also likely saw how Angulo and Vanes were both able to land clean punches on Lara in stretches.Comment

Or will he try to outbox the boxer in the fight like he tried to outbox Mayweather instead of going from being a 4 cylinder to a v8?
Do you guys think Canelo would actually outbox Lara at a slower pace or would you prefer to see him pushing forward constantly and throwing with Lara in a way similar to how he jumped on Angulo early.
Every time Canelo fights he has shown to improve an aspect of his game, vs Trout he shown great waist movement improving defense, vs Angulo he showed his speed/power combinations. Against Lara he's going to have to show better footwork imo.
I'd like to see him close the gap with feints, head movement and using his footwork to get close to Lara. Not really be more aggressive offensively, rather work his way in using footwork and feints and counterpunch accurately.
Canelo seems to take punches better in these higher weights than before. Trout never hurt Canelo in their fight but kept his distance very well for most of the fight and was tagging Canelo with straight shots.
Lara is also a southpaw like Trout and moves better but has been hurt by Angulo who was really never in the fight against CAnelo.
Does Lara have the power to hurt Canelo?? This is key to keep Canelo resetting and making him think ala the Mayweather fight.
Canelo will have to close the gap alot sooner than what he did against Trout so he can land those hard combinations. The upppercut was working for him against Trout but he does not use his legs for defense like Lara. Big props to Canelo for taking this fight which is not a easy given win.
He will have to show an upgraded version of what hes done so far, or he catches Lara trading with hard hooks and KO's him early.Comment

Canelo has to pressure lara sort of like cotto did against martinez as laras work rate isnt that great. He has to implement angulo tactic with head movement to get his left hook into play and i think he will win the fight.
Only problem is when canelo is aggressive he tends to tire as hes an explosive fighter, hopefully he can control the pace and push lara against the ropes with intelligent pressure.
As people say before gonna be hard for lara to win this on points as the cotto clash is only around the corner. Might even put some money on the draw if its close

If the fight is taken to the cards, its Canelo all day.
He is set-up to win:
Fight ABOVE the max limit of 154lb
ONLY 10 rounds fight
All designed to protect Canelo from his poor stamina.
Now, do not sleep on Lara's power, he can and will test Canelo. We know that Canelo has good power and Lara's chin is suspect to flash KDs.
Canelo will not outbox Lara, but Lara can outbox Canelo, and Lara has stinging power and can drop you (Trout), same with Canelo.
As far as common opponents, they are about even.
Close fight for both, if Lara has his chit together he will win, but Im afraid that all Canelo has to do is show up to the fight and last the 10 rounds.Comment

He's a boxer, that's how he'll fight for most the fight. I do expect him to try and be aggressive, but he won't suddenly become a faster Angulo like people seem to base their predictions around.Comment

its a 12 round fight, get your facts straight.. lara wont make it to the late rounds anyway...If the fight is taken to the cards, its Canelo all day.

No. That's not who he is. I've seen him fight two boxer/movers over the past year and he boxed with them both on the outside. Angulo came to him so he was able to pick him apart and let his hands go.
This will be a boxing match that will be fought on the outside; just like Lara and Canelo's past fights. I don't believe Canelo can change his style overnight for one and he doesn't have the stamina to maintain relentless pressure over a 12 round fight.Comment

Complete opposite IMO. If Lara is to win, it will be by decision. Canelo is the one I think who can get a KO.If the fight is taken to the cards, its Canelo all day.

Canelo HAs to be aggressive in this fight IMO because Lara will not come forward. I don't know if Canelo can do this, because it's not his nature to come forward. He likes to counter punch, so it will be interesting if he has learned from the Mayweather fight, and understand he needed to make more chances against him which he didn't, choosing to box.Comment
