  • Comments Thread For: Roach Felt it Was Hometown Cooking in Ruslan Loss

Freddie Roach, trainer for Ruslan Provodnikov (23-3, 16KOs), felt there was hometown cooking from the two judges who scored the fight, 114-112, for Chris Algieri (20-0, 8KOs) on Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The third judge had it 117-109. Algieri was down twice in the first round and his right eye was swollen shut by the eight round of the contest.

    Rematch in Russia

Roach is right though, this is fishy. Make the rematch. With some adjustments working with Roach, Provodnikov will KO this kid. Algieri got a gift decision last night.

Right. A guy who fights in a in about a 1500 seat ballroom got a favorable decision over the most recent wet dream of a growing idiot based of uneducated fight fans. Makes sense.

I like Freddie, but sometimes he just goes off in some make believe land with his bias. His guy WON'T get better. He's just a face first brawler with good, not great power, who stops punches with his head. He admitted boxers give him trouble. 80 punches more landed for Algieri. The HBO judge and the 117-109 Prov judge were delusional. Algieri did a great job with lateral movement and smart aggression. Outside of the 1st round he fought nearly a perfect fight. They'd be smart to admit defeat, move on, and try to get Rios or Maidana in the ring.

i agree with you when i started seeing the hbo scores i wondered if i was literally missing something provo was doing. Then i got online and realized i was not the only one that was scoring the fight more favorable to algeiri.

was funny as the fight went on you could tell hbo realized they had fight scored different then everyone else and started trying to cover their ass. Then ward says i dont know what you guys are seeing but i got algeiri winning this fight in like the 10th round lol. Their infomercial for provo failed miserably last night
