He out threw him, used and angles and footwork, and made him look like a joke.
Ruslan "lost" but...

Did you watch the fight? He did not go into survival mode, he jabbed, through straights, hooks and uppercuts. He boxed very well. That is not survival mode. What would you have rathered he do, stand in front of a man who throws bombs and just slug it out with him? This is not rock'em sock'em, it's a boxing match.C'mon now, that type of win is not gratifying imo. You go into survival mode and pretty much jab your way to victory.
Different strokes for different folks, we have another Andre Ward in the making, no wonder why he was so in love with him.
But Algieri seems like a good guy and a deserving champion so I'm happy for him.Comment

He didn't jab his way to a win. He was landing power punches of every kind. Hooks, uppercuts, hard rights, everything.Comment

Twitter response is very split on who won and very dubious about the scoring.
Champ usually keeps the belt in those very close fights, but Ruslan never has the officials on-side, even with Alvarado, Weeks was giving him every possible advantage. Sucks he has to do everything in his opponents backyard.Comment

Pretty much this. The punch that closed his eye was just one punch. I will use the old Angulo excuse. He got thumbed in the eye doe. It was the laces from the gloves doe LOL. Algeirie did what he needed to do to win. Provo is one dimensional and this fight proves it yet again.Comment

This^^^ It's like they ignore all the other variety of punches he was throwing and just say he jabbed and ran. Even when Ruslan had him against the ropes he dipped down and either clinched or smothered Ruslans punches and pivoted away, while attacking body or just making him miss.Comment

nothing he lost hes the limited entertaining fighter a lot of us thought he was. He was just the next boxing bogey man we all want that knockout artist that mike tyson type and it makes us think brawlers are better then they are. I think we need to get away from this hes a machine he cant lose type attitude. It was the same with mattyssee now its ggg and kovalev. These guys are very fun to watch and in ggg and kovalev case might very well deserve the hype. Im a big provo fan and still am but honestly who has he beat that caused all the hype? Alvarado is not a championship level fighter for some reason people think him and rios are/were because of their wars. he couldnt beat bradley even though he was concussed for 10 rounds whenever bradley boxed provo could not do anything. I guess my point is lets stop making these entertaining brawlers out to be something they are not. Its like we give them credit they dont deserve and then discredit boxing type fighters. Not to mention we all keep falling for these networks hype how many times lately has a network hyped fighter whose opponents people thought had 0 chance to win either lost or got taken to the limit. Its because we make these brawlers out to be something they simply are not.Comment

I agree with you. But I still wasn't impressed by Algeiri. Maybe because I'm not into his style. I have nothing against pure boxers, but I like my fighters to have something stand out about them.nothing he lost hes the limited entertaining fighter a lot of us thought he was.
