    Ruslan "lost" but...

C'mon now, that type of win is not gratifying imo. You go into survival mode and pretty much jab your way to victory.

Different strokes for different folks, we have another Andre Ward in the making, no wonder why he was so in love with him.

But Algieri seems like a good guy and a deserving champion so I'm happy for him.

    Survival mode? Lmao.

Algeiri uses his feet in EVERY fight. He wasn't surviving. He was exposing a one dimensional brawler.

To some people, getting your face smashed, but throwing more is da art of not getting hit.

Every punch rocked Algieri, if he wasn't the faster boxer in the ring then he would have had nothing going for him.

Luckily for Algieri, he was the quicker of the two and he was able to make Provodnikov not land flush with his movement (superior speed.)

It's not like he was stunningly impressive (at least not imo.)

Ruslan rocked him because he punches hard. But after round 1 there weren't many of those shots. Algieri used his feet, threw hard punches to the body, kept him at bay with his jab and mixed up his attack beautifully to keep Provodnikov off balance.

And I can say the same thing, "if Ruslan didn't punch hard doe he would have had nothing going for him."

You're right, if Ruslan didn't have power he wouldn't have anything going for him. I don't think anyone praised him being versatile, I just think that was a very soft win for Algieri and although I am happy for him, I'm just not impressed. Majority of those punches were triple jabs. So the punch differential wasn't moving for me personally.

I would say all his wins will look like this because that's his style. He's not a big puncher and he relies on his fundamentals, superior conditioning and high output to outpoint his opponents.

It's his opponents job to come up with the right strategy to deal with his movement and volume.

Yeah. I don't like that style....I came to see a fight. And I don't mind boxers, that's not a knock on slick fighters. Algieri did nothing for me...and imo did nothing to win the title.

He did not break Ruslan, he did not hurt Ruslan, he did not put on a boxing clinic by my definition. He ran and jab'd (and did ALOT of both.) and to the judges, that was enough to win the fight by one round.

I dunno, the reaction from Algeri's own peoples showed me that they were shocked he won.

I aint gonna lie but I do feel that some hometown cookin was afoot.
