I like Algieri. He seems like a nice guy, and he really proved himself last night. I knew he could box well, but I didn't think he had the mettle or ability to maintain distance for 12 rounds. I was completely wrong, and I give him respect. However, a fight with Manny is completely unwarranted. There's other fights for Manny to take, and I would be very disappointed if this happened. And to Chris, Manny is not Ruslan.

Exactly. Promoters need to be more specific than just saying "the winner gets so and so." Nine times out of 10, a promoter will say that mindful of who they want/expect to win.Comment

Roach said he has no problem training Manny to beat him.
Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach is not completely sure if Chris Algieri (20-0, 8KOs) has done enough to secure a November fight against WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38KOs). On Saturday night, Algieri pulled off the biggest win of his career when he survived two knockdowns in the first round and won a twelve round split decision victory over heavily favored Ruslan Provodnikov to capture the WBO junior welterweight championship at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.Comment
