I am a big fan of Provodnikov while Algeri is no one to me. I expected Algeri to be KOd in the first round, period, and was hoping to see Pacquiao-Provodniko or a rematch with Bradley next.

But Algeri wasn't KOd. He won the fight and won it clearly.

Watch it again. "Clean, effective punching" doesn't mean "tears the other guys face up more." Algeris punching, which was very effective, kept Provonikov at bay. Kept him from landing another knockdown-shot and kept him frustrated and unable to do much clean punching of his own. You don't score blood, you don't score how a guys face looks. You score their boxing.

    Algeri won it.

No one is saying clean effective punching means that

I score a clean effective punching like this, some punches are worth more than others. For Example

    Jab = penny
    hook and uppercuts = dimes
a punch that rocks you = quarters - this can be any punch including a jab

This ain't the amatuers where jabs are equal to hooks and uppercuts

Algeiri would land 10 more jabs a round but they had no effect whatsoever. Ruslan was still coming forward and would rock him with a hook that wobbled him

I never saw Prov hurt once yet I saw Algieri get wobbled numerous times and he started clinching towards the end.

And alot of judges score blood, thats always been a part of boxing. Algeiri was busted up almost everytime he went to the corner.

If this was the amatuers Algeiri would've won no question

Gift hometown decision even tho Algeiri would beat alot of boxers out there
Coming from an idiotic Pacfart like you, it's a miracle that you gave some rounds to Algeiri. Coming from you, it's no surprise because you almost equate fights to May-Pac. May just "pitty pat" his opponents to victory while Pac KOs his opponents. Sorry to call you an idiot but almost all your posts I've read are idiotic.

Jabs vs hooks depends on the nature of the jabs. Algeiri started out looking stiff and slow but as the night wore on his jabs were snapping Ruslan's head back and stopping him in his tracks. Admittedly Algieri didn't put much power into his right hand.

The damage to his face isn't what it seems to be. Provo landed that huge punch in round 1 which caused instant swelling, the rest of his face didn't look too bad.

I don't think I saw him get hurt any other time, Provo's pure power did send him off balance at times, but he didn't look hurt.
Not here to argue who won but the rest of his face didn't look too bad? lmao!!! His face look like it got ran over. Keep it 100

I thought ruslan barely won, but to say there is no way that algieri won is wrong.. Algieri had a better case than ruslan IMO

this. how else to explain 117-109 from one of boxing's best judges vs 114-112 on the two hometown judges cards?

I hate it when boxing fans b*tch about punching power when they knew that coming into the fight that Algierie had barely any KO's. now that he outworked and schooled his opponent it's not enough to win? Damage does make an impact on scoring but Provo just did damage in round one. Algierie moved well around the ring, snapped a good jab, and landed when he wanted at will.

It was close but Ruslan deserved the win.
I had Algieri winning this fight, so did two judges

Dude proved himself tonight, no question, win or lose
