fyi, those two judges had algieri winning 8-4, ruslan landed much fewer punches but he has power

if you're going to throw away the ten point must system and just favor the power puncher going into the fight, guys like algieri will never win these types of fights

dude outboxed ruslan, i'd love to see algieri vs matthysse

It was close but Ruslan deserved the win.

I didn't see Algieri win enough rounds to offset the 2 knockdowns. It was a close fight that I knew they would give to Chris being the hometown guy. His family looked shocked as they should have been. I don't think he did enough to beat the champion

After a 10-7 first round Algheri would have to win 8 rounds to make it 114-112. Provodnikov clearly won round 2 and 12 so those judges are saying Algheri won every other round. I call BS. Algheri is going to the hospital after the fight. Provodnikov is going out for a dinner of raw moose steak.

2 of the judges gave round 2 to algeri although he was wobbled pretty bad and clearly beaten up. all he had to do to win that fight was survive. mission accomplished.

Of course, but that's how it goes. Matthysse learned against Alexander and Judah that he needed KOs to win in the US against home fighters. Best believe Ruslan won't be getting a rematch either.

i don't think it's hometown so much as its ruslan only had one fight with top rank and algeri has many more to come. it would be ****** not to do this from a business stand point and i have heard over and over that boxing is a business so....

You are absolutely right. This is professional boxing. In professional boxing, the key to victory is to outbox your opponent, not outslug him! Unlike MMA, twenty jabs trumps five power punches in professional boxing. Also, in professional boxing, fights are not decided on how someone's face looks at the end of the fight.

Based on what you have said, you should stop watching professional boxing and start watching amateur street fights on the internet.

I thought Provo one no question about it. I had the same card as HBO. With that being said you have to give Algieri props. The dude can box well and more then proved tonight that he has heart.

You guys are talking like Provodnikov landed more shots. He didn't. He just consistently walked forward while Algieri consistently moved backward. Some people never get over the "he's running away!" thing.
