Impressive guts performance by Algieri and a good fight. That eye was grossly bad, then the nose started bleeding, but he kept sticking through. Another entry into the 140 mix, the division may not be spectacular but it is deep.

HBO was so, so bad in this fight. By round 8 it was so obvious Algieri was winning the fight but they kept talking like Ruslan was dominating.

I'm from the us and know that was a garbage decision. Algeri may have taken 3 rounds clean , there were 3 or so That were close and the rest was all Provo. Throw in the 2 knockdowns and there's no way Chris could win. Look no further than his family's reaction to the surprise when he was announced the winner to know who really deserved to win.

I'm from the U.S. too and saw complete ring generalship by Chris after the 2nd round. I also heard Roach tell Provo in his corner that the fight is too close and that he is going to have to knock him out. Bad call by Roach because he was targeting the eye instead of the body. This is not Rock'em Sock'em a Robots. This is boxing, where skills pays the bills.

What won it for Algieri was that Provo looked too devastating for his own good early on. When Algieri did better later on, the judges probably gave him rounds he didn't necessarily deserve because he wasn't getting murdered like he was in the early rounds. Each round must be scored individually, independent of any previous action, but that often gets lost on the judges.

What won it for Algieri is the fact that he won most of the rounds after the first. And how anyone that watched that fight could not see that is beyond me? And I wanted Ruslan to win. Andre Ward was the only one that had balls enough to say that Algieri was winning. Lampley should be ashamed of himself for saying that Algieri got a gift decision and HBO's unofficial judge should find something else to do for a living. I believe Kellerman wanted to say that Algieri was winning but his HBO contract must state that he can't say anything bad about the house fighter. I honestly believe that it was one of the worst biased pieces of sports broadcasting that I have ever seen. And why? Because the HBO fighter was supposed to win and he got dominated instead. But at least two of three people who really mattered got the fight right. In the future I think I will turn the sound off and turn some music on when I watch HBO fights.

Hbo commentary is terrible jim lampley and max kellerman should be fired they know nothing about boxing. They r biased bastards. Especially lampley. He is manny pacquiaos secret lover. He almosr cried on air when marquez knocked him out.

People turning this into a trainer thing are ignoring how brilliant Algieri was against a good brawler in Prov.

My 3 cents

$0.01 - Algieri deserved the win. He showed heart and determination while boxing well. He will be a hard one to beat for most in that division. I can only see him losing to a couple guys in fights that would likely be close.

$0.02 - Is Provodnikov is not hyped. He is what we thought he was despite this loss. He is a come forward warrior who just want's to fight but is not the most skilled. As we already knew. No big surprise that he lost a decesion to a boxer who moves a lot. I'm still willing to watch him fight though, he will be in exciting fights with 80% of the people he steps in the ring with so I'm still amped up about him.

$0.03 - This fight is a perfect example of why you should never let commentators or ringside unofficial judges scorecards effect how you perceive a fight. Iv'e been watching this sport too long for that sht. I was sitting and awaiting hearing that exact decision after the fight and was shaking my head at the unofficial judges scorecard. Knockdowns and swollen eyes don't dictate who wins a boxing match. This isn't a street fight for a girl, it's a sport and there are rules and guidelines. One of those rules are that a fight is scored round by round. The judges did a great job tonight of making the "right" decision despite what casual onlookers may feel. More decisions like this can restore our faith in the judging system as I feel too many times the bigger name gets a win based on his promoter and fighters records are tainted because of that coughdannycoughgarciacough

agreed bro. usually the bigger star gets the decision but I'm glad that Algieri won. He was perceived to be out of his league bcuz he was making the jump from ESPN FNFs to HBO but he didnt skip a beat.

Haven't watched the fight yet but I am just stunned from the reports I've read... I tabbed Provo pretty easily and boy was I wrong.. Most definitely the biggest outcome prediction mistake I've ever made in boxing... I honestly didn't think Ruslan would have much trouble taking this guy, can't wait to watch and see how it all breaks down...
