Algeri showed very good Boxing skills & fought very smart & was in top top condition. Those 3 things kill come forward no defense strong fighters like Provodnikov. Too bad Algeri doesn't have a lot of power in his punches cause he probably would have stopped Provo or at least scored a knockdown. & he practically fought most of the fight with one eye!

Beat me to it. People's hate for JMM made them think Provo would knock him out. JMM would have put a beating on Provo. I think the reason he chose Alvarado is he thought he could knock him out but Alvarado stayed away just enough to avoid a knockout.

Algieri was still unproven for this fight and I didn't know if he could handle Provo's pressure and power. The first looked like the end of the fight.

Algieri impressed me with his skills and chin. Provo was always dangerous and the fight had a feeling that Provo would catch up to him again.

That was one good fight and the right guy won. I didn't understand those wide margins that HBO had or the one judge.

Styles make fights. Alvarado was gunshy from the Provodnikov beatdown for the first half of the fight... when he actually applied some pressure to Marquez he knocked JMM down.
