i don't know if you guys were watching boxing, or even alive at the time, but that fight was f#Cking HUGE.
I think you are under estimating just how big canelo is. I agree 1.5-2 mill is crazy, but I think 1.25 mill is a strong possibility.

      really?

he did 350 K against angulo. that's according to showtime and GBP, mind you, not an objective source. it could very well be less than that.

Why do Larry's threads always get 5-odd pages of responses? They're all really trite and unimaginative

This would be great. I can see their being another catch weight, however. Maybe at like 157 or 158

Don't see why though especially If Maidana vs Mayweather had numbers of what 600-700k?

Cotto vs Canelo are the two biggest Mexican and Puerto Rican boxing stars about If they sell it right you could be wrong with your prediction...
If you really want to pay for a borefest PPV like Mayweather well I guess that is other peoples choices bad one at that.

                  sell it right?

you mean dump a ton of money into the promotion, the way they did with canelo - mayweather? canelo - mayweather also got a huge push from CBS. that won't happen, as they know they won't do those kind of numbers. you can lose money if you do that and the ppv flops.

they'll bank on being able to sell a good amount of ppv [500K plus,] and have both sides taking a relatively low guarantee. the selling point is the nationality of the fighters, and you really don't have to spend much money to sell that to mexican and PR casuals.

where are teh numbers for cotto - martinez ppv?

if he's a "huge draw," and sold a ton of PPV, they'd at least release some preliminary numbers.

floyd mayweather's last fight probably didnt' even crack a million. the numbers are so bad they're trying to brush them under the rug.

you guys seriously overestimate the power of boxing matches to get casuals to pony up $70 dollars for one boxing card.
