Floyd's not going to rematch Maidana if he doesn't have to. El Chino gave him the dirtiest, most difficult fight he's had in years. Castillo did a similar number on him in their first fight. In the rematch, Mayweather ran and boxed. If he rematched Maidana, he would try the same thing, but Chino would likely cut off the ring and try to rough him up as before, only worse. Floyd doesn't want to ever face Maidana in the ring again.

Rematch would be fine down the road, but Maidana had his shot and IMO,clearly lost a competitive tough fight to Floyd..

Let Maidana get another big win and then I feel the rematch makes more sense, much like how cotto got one over serg, and now a Floyd rematch is much bigger

A ref had it a draw and most analysts say that he was the closest to the truth. I had it one better. So that makes it closer than your score.
After rewatching the first 5 rounds, the only reason some of those judges gave some rounds to Floyd is because it's Floyd and perhaps because it's hard to give one fighter 5 of 6 of the first 6 rounds unless there is no doubt for all of those 5 rounds. If it was someone else besides Floyd, I can see them giving 5 - 1 for the first half to Maidana. While I can see how some can have it 4-2 Maidana, like one of the judges did but when I relooked at round 2, the bigger shots were taken by Maidana. There was one series where Maidana hit Floyd so so clean that there was no way that you can give that round to Floyd. No way!

but 8-4 Floyd is a bad score. Scores that made more sense are 7-5 or 6-6 or 5-7 but not 8-4

It's not what others write, it's what I saw. Mayweather ran from Castillo.

The key word you're missing here is "TRY". No statement that Chino would do better, but that he would try. But like I said before, Floyd doesn't want Chino again. See if he rematches him.
