Comments Thread For: Povetkin Eyes October Return, Klitschko Rematch

Former WBA 'regular' heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin (27-1, 19KOs) is looking to return to the ring in October. Povetkin will return from a very impressive seven round destruction of Manuel Charr from May 30th in Moscow. The goal for Povetkin is a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko, who owns the WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF world titles. Wladimir won a dominating twelve round decision over Povetkin last year.

obviously it's more lucrative for him to chase Wlad again, but I hope he considers going after Stiverne, I think that is one of the best fights that could be made at HW

Povetkin seems like a really likable guy. Doesn't ever complain, good sportsmanship, fights exciting and shows patience by wanting to build to mandatory again.

Like post above, would be nice to see him take stiverne, showed he has trouble with an opponents jab though, so a wilder fight would be interesting.

Boxing being boxing, you never know how the rematch could go.
Or to put it another way, how could it possibly NOT be better than the first fight?

Would rather see Povetkin mix it up with other top guys besides wlad

Fights vs fury chisora, wilder stiverne, haye, arreolla, helenius, Perez, Jennings... All would be interesting

Remember when he backed out of a Wlad fight and tried to blame it on Wlad by complaining about his hotel room and the likes?

Btw soon there will be no need for a Wlad rematch. Kobrata is coming.

Looking forward to seeing Povetkin back in the mix. He was in great shape for Charr, and credit to him for taking such a tricky 'comeback' bout

While I'd like to see him go for Wlad again (hopefully getting a ref who won't let him glab and hold all night), yes it would be great to see him go after Stiverne.
