  • I have no problem with Ward staying at 168. Just be active. Him whining about not getting fights is just so hollow because what he is really saying is that he cannot get fights at the price and location that he wants.

He will not fight his mando Kashtonov because it 'doesnt do anything' for him.
He turns down Kessler because he will not fight outside the US.

I cannot fathom how he can think it's better to sit around doing nothing instead of making a few concessions to get fights made. I'm sure the big fights will come eventually. Just like it did for Hagler.

As much as I dislike his dirty style, I am basically sad that his prime years gets wasted away fighting no-hopers or none at all.

Then what? How about you move on to the next target, try to unify maybe....you know, the sort of stuff an ambitious fighter might actually do. I've been a massive Ward fan, but I just cant excuse his conduct over the last few years. He's acting like a complete prick, fighting noone and whining while his contemparies are fighting, making money and actually getting on with their careers.

Andre Ward is saying that once he beats the fighter that everyone see's as the king of the LHW division (which he's not) then who else does he have left to fight? You guys won't be asking him to fight anyone at that point. So since he knows that fight will always be there, why not make the most financially at 168lbs and then when he moves up to 175lbs the Kovalev fight will be even bigger.
That's exactly right. 168 has more opportunities now and for the immediate future.

In the meantime Kovalev can grow his name and notoriety so that when Ward does fight him it will be that much bigger of an event.

              • I`m so sick of Ward and his fans acting like Ward is a victim. He had a chance to fight Bute but he made excuses not to fight him,so Bute moved on to Froch and got knocked out.Which Means Ward let a big fight slip away. Then Ward had a chance to fight Adonis Stevenson when Adonis called him out after Adonis beat Dawson.Adonis even said he was willing to come down to 168 to fight him or he was willing to fight at 175,which ever weight Ward wanted.Ward never replied,Now Adonis Stevenson is now with Showtime,so Ward let another big fight slip Away.

The fact that he says if i beat Kovalev then what, shows that Ward wants easy fights just to ensure he maintains his undefeated record. He knows Kovalev is a dangerous opponent and put him at risk at losing his 0,that is why he`s using he doesn't bring money as an excuse not to fight him.Ward said a long time ago that he wants to be the best ever, but Ward is not even taking the type of risk it takes to attempt to be the best ever.He still wants to live off the super six as if that success makes him an all time great. And his groupies act like winning the Super Six is all he needed to accomplish for his legacy.

                • Ward's smart. He knows the moment he moves up to 175, Golovkin will move up. He's waiting it out till Golovkin moves up, beats him, then beats Kovalev after at 175. Thus, killing two birds with one stone.

Anthony Dirrell was his mandatory 2 years ago,Ward was gonna vacate that belt to avoid him,bu then Anthony got into a car accident, which gave Ward a loophole.
