He clearly states in the article that the money is at 168 hence why he feels hesitant in moving up. He then goes to say that if he did move up to fight Kovalev there would be nowhere to go.

This suggests he has no intention of fighting Kovalev. A fight between the two right now would probably secure Ward his biggest payday to date so why not campaign for it? Unless off course he wants nothing to do with Kovalev.
Exactly. I think it's clear Ward is not willing to fight a guy who is much bigger and he won't be able to push around and hit and clinch like he can guys at 168. Of course, Ward is ducking...he could fight Kovalev and move back down to 168 after the fight...not a big deal for a guy who claims he can even make 160 if he wanted to...

          Hey guys,

I have this business idea, where I'm going to take my services, not use them, and still expect people to pay me. Who wants to venture capitalist this up with me?

This seems to be an issue of Ward thinking he is worth more than he is as opposed to ducking. He doesn't have a history of ducking fighters. He just thinks he should be making "x" and the market is telling him otherwise and he cant handle it.

If he beats Kovalev why cant he move back down to 168? Its not like he'll be a full fledged LHW...

Maybe you should ask him that. He's the one saying that a Kovalev fight leaves him with no options. I think it's just an excuse.

You guys are vicious with the Ward hate. I know he's not helping himself at all by repeatedly making comments but damn...

He's exactly right about going to 175 right now too. I'm an admitted Ward fan, but it's not a stretch to think Kovalev will put him out. Ward isn't ready to move up and even when that time comes Kovalev is dangerous for EVERYONE. If Ward were to take that much of a risk, he probably wants to get paid a premium for it. A regular HBO show won't do that.

I also think you guys would be pissed at him if he actually considered going up and tried to take easier opposition before taking on Kovalev. But no, first fight at 175 he's gotta see the boogeyman, a belt holder at the new division he probably doesn't even belong in.... I think many of you just want to see him lose.

He's a clown. He somehow thinks that because he was the number 1 Super Middleweight that automatically entitles him to be a PPV fighter. The guy is seriously deluded.

Any mention of a fight that would take place outside America, he automatically reaches for the 'they're ducking me' excuse. He wants to beat up on Chavez Jnr, and I think he'll implode when Froch gets that fight before him!

Sitting on his arse he has lost his Super Middleweight and P4P status. He either needs to start fighting his way back into contention or just retire.

I personally think Andre has a superiority complex. No doubt he's the best fighter at 168 and that has probably given him a sense of entitlement. The fact of the matter is he's not a draw or a PPV fighter. I think once he figures that out he'll start being more active.
