  • I dont remember Andrade being nearly that exciting the first time I saw him, against Martirosyan. Perhaps because Martirosyan dropped him in the first round. He figured, this dude can hit. So he went Rigondeaux-lite for the rest of the fight.

Provodnikov vs Algieri highlights the challenges boxers face when it comes to judging. The judges dont personally come into the boxers' dressing room, as the ref does, to inform them on what they score for that fight.

So the boxer-and most importantly his trainer-go into the fight blind to what those judges moods are on that day . So when you're expecting a "workrate" judge, you lose the fight on "harder hits" judging, and when you expect "harder hits" judging, you lose the fight on "workrate" judging !!

Shadiness and home cooking are factors as well of course, but often its what side of the bed that judge rolled off of on that particular day. So thats how I look at the Provodnikov-Algieri decision. You're rolling the dice every time the fight goes to a decision, and Provodnikov happened to get "workrate" judging for his fight Saturday. Vera got "harder hitting" judging for the first Julio fight. Pacman got "workrate" judging on the first Bradley fight .

Let it go to the scorecards, and this is what you're in for...

    • Provodnikov is a beast and a killer IF u stand with him....

He's not as good as I thought though because he looked so ponderous in there, he followed his man and didn't do enough after that brilliant start. Pacquaio would slice him to pieces and anyone who can move well should outbox him im afraid. Im still a fan though, he's a cool guy with a big heart and a punch to match! Throw him in with the right opponents and u have FOTY candidates left right and centre, Rios (mooted), Maidana (Ruslan's favourite fighter), Matthysse, even guys like Porter and Garcia make for fun fights!

Algieri was a nice surprise though, he fought a brave and skilled fight and deserved the win, I don't think he will ever be The man at 140 or 147 but its nice to have yet another player in the mix!

                • See, you can box without running. Russel and Lomachenko right now are boxing without running.

                  Algieri was running.

                  • Ok loma is starting to run a little bit

If one guy is throwing all the punches and one guy isn't doing anything but moving, that's running.

Algirie, the guy who threw almost threw 1000 punches, was running under you definition?
