Mayweather is a welterweight and Cotto is a Middleweight. Also, Miguel is a lot wider and stronger than Money, so why don't he fight guys closer to his own size? There's Peter Quillen, Danny Jacobs, the Charlo boys, Demetrius Andrade and a host of contenders and prospects who are a lot closer to his own size and would love to fight him. Also, there's GGG, and Canelo too. They would both relish the opportunity to challenge him as well.

So enough already of these over size fighters looking to fight smaller boxers at catch weights, who are naturally a lot smaller and weaker than these heavier opponents.. To me it's an act of cowardice and copping out. Unless these smaller fighters are willing to move up themselves and campaign at heavier weight classes as Cotto did; Then boxers should stick to challenging fighters in their own weight divisions.

Money May is no Middleweight and would never attempt to weigh as much as a middleweight. The same goes for Manny Pacquiao. They are both undersized welterweights. So let them challenge opponents their own size and in their own weight class. Or let these naturally larger fighters like Cotto come down to their weight class and fight them at their weight limit.

You are right. Money dominated and easily outclassed him the last itme while pitching a virtual shut out against him while even spotting him the four extra pounds in the catchweigh process. Therefore he has nothing to prove against him

Ok let me ask you a question? Where's Cotto is going to get the money from to fight Mayweather again? It's definitely won't be coming from Floyd because he has a hard cap guarantee remaining with Showtime for a $100 Mil. Cotto only wants to fight Mayweather because he thinks it's the most lucrative deal out there for him. However, if he is expecting to earn at least a $10 Mil plus guarantee for this fight as Mayweather's next opponent, then it's not going to happen.

He stands a much better chance of making a huge payday against Canelo than against Floyd because Mayweather is not going to split his guaranteed $30 plus million purse with Miguel. He won't split half or even a third of that amount with him. So the most that Miguel could expect to make in a rematch with Floyd is a guaranteed amount of between $1.5 to 3 mil dollars at most with a percentage of the Pay per view sales. That is of course, if Top Rank who Floyd doesn't do business with or Golden Boy ups the ante and offer him considerably more money which is highly unlikely because they so badly covet a Canelo Alavarez/Miguel Cotto match up over a Mayweather rematch anyway.

You are so far off it's amazing. The money that Showtime paid Mayweather was so that Mayweather can fight exclusively on they're network. That money is separate from the money Mayweather gets guaranteed for a fight. Cotto made over 10 mill the last time he fought Mayweather, and he would make more in a rematch coming off this win. Fighters purses are paid primarily by the promoter, because Mayweather promotes himself he will naturally always get more the a fighter who is in a promotional contract. There are cases where a fighters guaranteed purse is made larger or sometimes even paid in full by a network, but that is not the case for Mayweather.

Note im not discussing whether or not a rematch with Mayweather makes sense. Personally i think Cotto should fight GGG, it is more intriguing.
