MW is not going to venture that high in weight to fight Cotto I don't think.

Screw the "fake lineal title". Floyd admittedly likes the WBC Green belts and adding another division title to his record, making him a 6-division champ (albeit against a guy he already beat) would make it all worth it.
IF he has confidence that he can beat Cotto. He could say "been there, done that". But Cotto got himself something new worth fighting for. It's not about beating Cotto as much as beating Miguel for what he has (Which is the WBC Belt at a weight Floyd never won a Title at).Comment

If I was Mayweather, I would jump at this fight. He'd beat Cotto again and he'd become middleweight champion plus its one of the biggest money fights out there.
Mayweather is very opportunistic so I can definitely see this happening now.Comment

The fact is, if he wins, he is a 6-division champion and he gets his favorite Green Belt (not the WBA, WBO or IBF). No excuses can erase a factual accomplishment.
And even if Cotto did lose to Trout and won against a faded Martinez, his accomplishment cannot be erased. Plus, the perception is that he has gotten a tad bit better with Roach. So there is that new curiosity factor (he didn't do bad in the first fight, how good can he do in the second with a new trainer).
If not Maidana (which I'm not too curious about), Cotto is worth facing. He is # 3 PPV draw after Floyd and Pac, WBC Middleweight Champ, didn't do too bad in the first fight against Floyd. All prerequisites that make a rematch worth it.Comment

Unfortunately for Floyd he doesn't seem to have too many viable options for his next fight! Since Amir Khan is not available that leaves Maidana, Cotto or Pacquiao as the only real acceptable options. The only other guy I can think of would be Danny Garcia - which would also be the easier fight
Cotto weighed in at 160 on fight night, Floyd can easily weigh in 155-160 on fight night.Comment

But that's the thing. The excuses don't matter. Maybe in our small world of Boxing forums, they do. But when did they ever matter to Floyd.
