Pavlik and Williams were good wins. After that he beat a bunch of middling opponents not to mention he got knocked down in basically every fight, which isn't necessarily bad but it shows that maybe he wasn't all that great.

He did a good job of avoiding Pirog around 2011 while waiting on his fight with Chavez Jr. he again pulled the same thing this past year with Golovkin in order to fight Cotto.

He did good beating the guys put in front of him, but can we honestly say that if Cotto fought him 2 years earlier it wouldn't be about the same result? Martinez hit the deck in pretty much every fight and Cotto's jab last night sent Sergio reeling. His style is all flash but he gets hit A LOT in pretty much ever fight he has had.

I initially liked Sergio a lot, he was exciting to watch but the circlejerk on here became too much for me and made me dislike him. I think he is getting overrated way too much.
This coming from a Danny Gift fan. Run dude! Herrera called the cops on you
You guys should still be hiding under a rock, come on.

160 has been sluggish but 1. That's not his problem and 2. He's a jmw campaigning at mw.

He called out all the big names which were 154 champions and even offered catch weights but he just never landed the big fights. And at 168 he would get destroyed by Froch, Kessler, Ward and company.

He won the mw title, made defenses against ranked mw contenders. Missed a few but who hasn't? It is what it is. He peaked late in his career which hurt him since his style is built on reflexes ans athleticism so an extensive 10 year reign was never in store to begin with.

Overall he's been one of the better champions of this era and now its time to reflect and wait for his invitation to the ibhof and the wbhof

          A good champion...

Not a legendary run like monzon, hopkins, hagler, but still a very good champ and a HOF caliber career...

I think he should get credit...even though he started late he had a real fighter mentality....No doubt in my mind he woulda fought everybody.
