    Good bye to an ATG

I am one of those that correctly predicted that an 80% Martinez would destroy Cotto.
Seems that the information Cotto camp had was correct and Martinez was clearly done before the fight. I mean were not even talking about a 50% Martinez, we're talking about a man that can barely walk around any more and should have never got in the ring with injuries FAR worse than anyone predicted.
Good bye Sergio!, there was no need to go out like that, you had already proven more than enough.

The Cotttards think beating a near 40yr old cripple makes him a beast!

He definitely needs to retire, no farewell fights, no nothing. Those surgically repaired knees should be used for everyday mobility, not competing at the highest level of sports. And frankly it's getting hard to watch a warrior like Sergio on the canvas multiple times a fight, often not even due to a knockdown.

He's not going to retire. I'm positive he'll have at least a farewell fight. I suspect that he fights two more times in 2015 and calls it a career, the paydays will be there for him against some names. I can't see him walking away yet.

He needs to retire, I don't even think he can beat contenders anymore

I was going to post my own Martinez appreciation thread but it looks like I won't need to, good work starting one just here.

Martinez has been a great fighter, in his prime he beat the leading middleweights on the planet. Nights like those he had against Pavlik, Williams, Chavez Jr and co. will not be forgotten.

Cotto on the other hand, should be given all the accolades he deserves, knees or no knees, he just beat the leading middleweight on the planet and did so, in my card, via a virtual shut out.

I don't want one of my favourite fighters going out on his back with one last attempt at glory, he should retire and do so now.

I think he'll retire, what names would fight him? They'll be gunning for Cotto now!

                    1. He's not an ATG.
                    2. Murray already beat him before Cotto did.
                    3. Cotto had no business beating Martinez. Martinez was done health wise.
