    I agree. There is no way Sergio should have stepped into the ring tonight. He probably can't even jog 500 meters anymore. There's no way in hell he should be participating in any sport other than darts or chess.

              That's why he didn't use his knee as an excuse. He chose to fight so he took responsibility for the loss.

              His knee was still an issue though. No one knows how recovered a knee is until it has to support your body weight while your body contorts at strange angles, which is what happens when a hook lands.

              It didn't hold up, but Martinez recognised it's not an excuse. He's a champion in every sense of the word.

                Yea and how many fighters are financially secure enough to just turn down big fights? How much has Martinez made in his career? Could even afford to do that and pass up on this fight despite his condition? The answer is no....
