He did it for the money and thought Cotto was too small for the knees to matter. Basically, Martinez tried to cherry pick, but as we've seen, those can go wrong sometimes.

All I heard in the 24/7 and at the press conferences is that his knees were 100%.

        Now what?

I agree. He shouldn't have taken the fight. People who bet money on him and flew from Argentina to watch him limp around in knee braces falling down from the G forces of his own missed punches...

But then again he made a few million dollars for his family and his career is clearly over now. I think most people would do it if they were in his situation.

Pablo Sarmiento said he was fine going into the fight in the post fight conference. It's just a different thing going into a real fight.

The guy was out for 14 months and had 3 knee surgeries. Martinez looked like he didnt even kno how to fight in that first round. Who want's to bet there was ZERO sparring in the Martinez training camp.

He didn't want to lose $1.5 million. In the 24/7 when he said that he couldn't walk for 7 months that's not normal. He was a great fighter that father time took from us tonight. Hope he has a good retirement.

If there was sparring it was extremely light.
