At their physical peaks, Roy was better. But what Roy depended on to be great was based mostly on physical talent. So once those physical gifts started to fade. He based went from the best fighter ob the planet to a complete bum that was being put to sleep by B and C class fighters in a night. It was pretty predictable that Martinez's decline was gonna be steep.

On a sidenote. To me the most impressive thing about Pacquiao is that he's been able to stay on top ad long as he had fighting in a style that suggest his decline was gonna be steep. Same with Roy. People act like Roy was a here today gone tomorrow flash-n-da-pan because his decline was so sudden. Roy can make a very good argument that he was the P4P King for a decade plus. That's unbelievable.

I thought of Roy immediately as well. Not saying Martinez is Roy but Martinez relies on pure athleticism and not really boxing skills. Pure boxers are like fine wine. That's why Cotto is still able to have a career.

I've been up all night....LITERALLY watched this fight 8 times.....I'm trying to a reason to give Martinez a round, and cant....also, trying to find a time the knee was SUCH a big deal that everyone is making it, and can't (although, i'm sure it was sore trying to keep 166 pounds off the canvas when getting rocked)....i'm watching it for the 9th time now and in the 4th round....I don't know why anyone would talk **** about Cotto's victory in this one....weird

If anyone cares to watch Rosado's prediction on last night's fight - he called it right. Cotto's fundamentals and rejuvenation would've been tough for any version of Martinez.

Roach called it. Cotto isn't a Murray, Barker, Mackling, Chavez ....

Cong**** to Cotto! HOFer for sure, and 1 of this eras true champions.

Rematch Floyd and get a better deal purse wise! 50/50 fight with the edge to Cotto

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS....I'M NOT KNOCKING MAYWEATHER OR CALLING HIM A *****!!!

No, Mayweather will not take a rematch...not because he's scared or a ***** or whatever you guys think i'm trying to say....He won't take it because, "why take the chance?".....There's no reason for him to....I believe Mayweather thinks he wins the fight again in the same fashion, but for the off chance that he doesn't, why take the chance? He has nothing to prove against Cotto. Yes, Cotto was his toughest opponent, but he still won....so no reason to take the risk. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see it, regardless the outcome, but there is no reason for Mayweather to take the risk

          • Cotto should thank Chávez Jr for injurying Martínez. His knee gave him problems, otherwise the fight and outcome could have been different. Cotto looked great though, this version can beat Floyd. kudos to Cotto.

              • In the lead up to the Fight I remembered watching Ali train at Caesars Palace, for Holmes.
Like Serge, he looked strong, Confident , Talkin ****, and Sergio's Physical look ,
was like Ali's, Calm and Confident, but when the fight started, He became 39 years Old,
and it was not there anymore!!!

I believe, Both knew, it was gone , but both Cat's could not Resist the Last Hurrah!!!

I hope Sergio, is Smarter than Ali, and Hangs the Gloves up now, for His Own Good....

I think Roach had ZERO impact on anything that happened last night. We'll see the Roach impact, if there is any, when Cotto meets some resistance in the ring. Its easy to show new wrinkles when nothing is in front of you. Don't know how long you've been following boxing. but after the loss to Morales. Roach yapped and yapped about "he" had transformed Pac into a complete fighter. But all he did was match Manny with a washed up Morales a bunch of times. And as soon as he got in ring with a live body in the second JMM fight. Pac turned right back into the same jab, jab, straight left hand fighter with crappy balance and continually put himself in awful positionsv to be countered like he always had been.

I'm not trying to be a **** right now...so don't jump all over me, but it seems as if you are saying that Martinez would have won if not for Chavez and the knee, BUT this version of Cotto could beat Mayweather? So, Cotto loses or COULD lose to Martinez BUT would beat Mayweather? That's just very confusing, because if Cotto can't beat Martinez....he ABSOLUTELY cannot beat Mayweather.....

They get way too much credit for fighters, sometimes you see a guy make a good adjustment because of what one of them mention but not often enought. Hell the commentators are usually saying it before the trainers.
