  • Still don't understand why Mayweather never fought Martinez at 154 when he was ranked number 3 pound for pound?

Mayweather waits out another one ...

    • I can't believe that Sergio's trainer begged Sergio to continue and then tried to cover up the fact by saying it was his decision to stop the fight...

Sergio Quitinez let me down tonight I must say...

      • Gotta give cotto his props. He took a hell of a chance, move up in weight, and not know what Sergio would show up.

Regardless, Sergio couldn't counter and couldn't take cottos shots. I had a feeling cotto would do well because of his performance against a mayweather with great legs and defense. Even if Martinez had healthy legs cotto would have still stalked him like he did Floyd. His jab bloodied Floyd's nose too. Again, Floyd's speed, defense and movement couldn't keep him away from getting roughed up. Cotto would have done the same to the Martinez that ko Paul Williams and bloodied Pavlik.

They are talking Cotto Bradley, def not a middleweight fight.

Fact is Cotto hurt him very early in the fight and he just couldn't recover, other fact is that when you have been hurt that bad from 3 KD's your legs just don't work that well, it would've happened to a 100% fit fighter, notice again when Sergios head started clearing up, he started moving better again and his punches had a bit more behind them, but then he got hurt to the head again and his legs went again plus by that stage he was getting tired too. I must STRESS that i know Sergio went into the fight with bad knees, but the real damage was done early because of head shots that took Sergios legs away.
This right here is a true fan of boxing. Great post mate. I concur 100% with your assessment, I too observed that he was moving fine until he got KD 3X and those body shots made it more difficult for him to recover. Plus Miguel didn't let him get his rhythm to get back to the fight. Miguel was relentless, timed Martinez when his hands are down, landed those hard shot when he get close. Ring generalship was evident and his ability to block and duck Sergio's punches was a thing of beauty. Roach really made Cotto a better boxer/fighter once again. Great job by team Cotto, well deserve win and best of luck to Martinez. It's time to hang em up Champ, you've done great in the sport of boxing. You're knee and your nagging shoulder and hand are all indications that it's all over.

This is not a excuse look at my previous posts where I gave props to roach for resurrecting a new animal in cotto . I take nothing away from cotto. I like cotto and Sergio ABSOLUTLY equal

People saying sergio was "exposed" as if he never had talent . Pushing 40 comming off knee surgery and over 1 years off LMFAO "exposed " more like over the hill a long time ago

You can tell how he walks to his corner late in the fight, I have a right knee problem myself and I know the tendencies I do to prevent the pain from increasing when I'm exercising. He sort of floats the whole leg so he won't strain it as much. I agree though, Cotto's bullrush caused everything to crumble.
Absolutely, i cant deny that, i myself have 2 disasters for knees, when i'm cold i feel them a bit but once i warm up i'm ok till about 4 rounds or 15-20 mins of running then i really feel the pain, i cant say all knee problems are the same but i feel that Cotto did the main damage that took his legs away.
It's a shame that Cotto won't get much credit for this cause he put on a great show, i feel he couldve beaten a very healthy Sergio due to his style but we wont know.

Gloating is for trailer trash there bub, give it a rest. Seriously.

Certainly didn't expect that to happen. Props to Cotto he did the job.
The question now: Is Cotto that good.. or is Martinez that worn out?
I guess the only way to find out is GGG/Cotto this fall at MSG.
Then we'll know for sure what each are made of.

The problems/questions people had for Freddie were/is his ability to teach defense. Though I thought that this training camp with Cotto went extremely well, I DO NOT think that it did enough to answer those questions. He's excellent at what he does. Teaching angles, footwork, and combination boxing.
I don't think you'll need a good defense if you have a tremendous offense. His offense was his defense so as Manny, and Provo. Although a I saw some good defense by Cotto tonight. Besides, how many fighters won championship with their defense compare to fighters with tremendous offense?
