Why Pacquiao would mess up Saul Alvarez

MANILA, Philippines; Manny Pacquiao's former sparring partner Lydell Rhodes sees the Filipino boxer having an advantage over Mexico's Saul Alvarez if a slugfest between the two fighters materializes.
Rhodes knows that a fight between the two remains speculation but said that it would be an easy sell if the promoters will be able to work it out.
If they fought, that would be super big, the undefeated junior welterweight told "Hustle Boss."
Rhodes, who helped Pacquiao prepare for his rematch against Timothy Bradley, said "Canelo" will be forced to adjust his fighting style if he trades punches against the fleet-footed Filipino.
He said, Alvarez uses a methodical technical style wherein he uses his longer reach to keep his opponents at bay. Rhodes said the Mexican might not be able to do it against a smaller boxer like Pacquiao.
It'll kind of mess up Canelo's style because, I See Canelo as more of a boxer, said Rhodes. ***8220;If he fight someone like so small like Manny, he will pretty much go in and try to be a bully.
That will take him out of his style, Manny could probably capitalize [that], move around and box.
But Canelo has one obvious advantage over Pacquiao. His sheer size might be difficult for the diminutive boxer to handle, said Rhodes.
With a height advantage over Pacquiao, Alvarez is expected to use his superior heft to his benefit.
Everyone says size doesn't matter. Size does matter... you'll never know how it's gonna go, said Rhodes.
Pacquiao's business manager Michael Koncz said that there is a possibility that his client will face Alvarez as an alternative to a Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight. But he stressed that it will have to take place at a catchweight.
"We cannot go into the ring if there is no catchweight. It's too dangerous. We are not trying to get any advantage but just trying to protect the health of Manny," said Koncz.
Koncz said the Mexican is a viable alternative to Mayweather because of his PPV drawing power.
"It will be a substitute for a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and will be the next biggest fight and may very well rival a Manny-Floyd fight," said Koncz.
Alvarez, for his part, said that unless there is a negotiation for the match, the fight will remain just a dream.
I think it's a fight that could probably happen. They are fighters that are in their moment and if that fight happens, we're ready. At this point though, it's just rumors and we're ready for this fight [with Lara], he said in Boxing Scene.
He also maintained that he won't agree to a catchweight fight.

Lets start with the fact Canelo is coming in to his prime, he is a very good boxer with a lot of punch.
If I was betting at Cw 152 or if at 154 Pac gets his ass handed to him!!
I find it so funny you think Pac can even come close at 154. He fought 1 bum at 154. Who has pac beat in his prime? Morales beat him past his prime before losing 2 to him.
Mosley!!! Way past even when Floyd dogged Shane out. Oscar? Lol, couldn't even gain a pound from weigh in!!
Cotto weight drained.
Hatton a fight or 3 from retiring maybe because of Pac, lol but still not a elitle boxer either way.
No punch Bradley.
The list goes on.
Let me say this, there are 4 major belts in every division, Pac always took one one the way to his 8. But he failed to fight the top of his division and unify a title in that class because he rose as a star. He has trouble with any real boxer not brawlers.
Now u may think I am fool of **** but truly think about it. Show me who he has beat at 147 that was not way past prime or not a quality opponent or last a blown up 147???
Nobody!!
And no I am not at all a Floyd fan.Comment

So by your logic Pac turned down the unfairly $40m because Pac didn't accept the offer. Fine! How about when Pac counter offered Floyd's $40m by 45-45 split and the 10% goes to the winner. Who is the ducker in that one?Mayweather phoned Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz in the Philippines on Jan. 19 and asked to speak to Pacquiao. Mayweather then told Pacquiao he'd offer him $40 million MANNY VERIFIED THIS. HE TURNED IT DOWN. He ducked the fight. Plain and simple. He said he ducked a fight with Mayweather, he needs more money to step in the ring with mayweather, lol.
Canelo by KO.Comment

*****es will be silent and disappear here if the fights gonna be made at 154, floyd fought ginger at a CW and demanded maidana to wear pillows. While pac is and will be willing to fight this guys on even fields.

canelo hasn't steamrolled on mayweather. pac doesn't lock up, he is as fleetfooted as floyd, goes in and out. if canelo cant do that on floyd, i cant imagine canelo doing it on pac. at 152 pac would be fighting the same canelo floyd got.Comment

the pac/canelo fight will happen just because fraud jr hasn't grown a pair yet to face pac inside the squared ring. as i’ve posted before pac is more than willing to fight canelo @54 but his handlers/advisers are pushing for CW.Comment

His advisers are making him fight at a CW? That's interesting... Canelo has the size and real punching power. That might be a bit much for Pacquiao to overcome. Canelo isn't a face first brawler (Rios) or a swing for the fences Bradley. I doubt Pacquiao would be able to "margarito" Canelo but it would be a good fight.Comment
