Comments Thread For: Confident Miguel Cotto Not Worried At All About Weight

NEW YORK – With rumors swirling regarding his opponent’s problems getting down to 159 pounds, Miguel Cotto isn’t the least bit worried about stepping on the scale Friday afternoon.

For the first time since the three-division champion turned pro in Febrary 2001, he hasn’t had to focus much during training camp on making weight. The 33-year-old Cotto has never boxed above the junior middleweight of 154 pounds, which made cutting weight for his middleweight debut Saturday night at Madison Square Garden relatively easy for the 5-foot-7 boxer.

Shut up Cotto! No one forced you to fight at 145, you were the want that signed the paper after Bob Arum showed you the extra bucks. I get annoy when fighters bring this up after they lost, I hope Canelo does not do that...they signed the contract and accepted because they were getting the pay check of their lifetime so don't come and cry about the weight later on.

Miquel is banking on Sergio completely falling apart in order to secure a title and a PPV extravaganza against the youthful, still learning Canelo.
After 5 frames the weight and Sergio's skill level will betray Cotto.

        Martinez by 8th stanza TKO.

You should silly! Martinez didnt have to accept the fight either! Remember Cotto already had a offer on the table, while Martinez was at home! So, Martinez needed Cotto waaaaayyy more then Cotto needed Martinez! He accepted it, now manup!

Dude, by fight night Sergio will be weighting north of 170 pounds! Sergio, was the one that brought up the weight! Stating a number of times, that he would fight Mayweather, Pacman or Cotto at 154! So, now all of Sergio's team is crying! please

I dont sympathize with Sergio not one bit .. first of all he sint a natural middleweight like some have been saying and second Sergio has always said he can still make 154 easy so why is 159 now a problem again?? ..
