HBO has probably the top guy at 160, the top guy at 168, and the top guy at 175 in Golovkin, Ward and Kovalev. Two of those guys will have to fight one another at some point if HBO wants to make another megastar. Golovkin-Ward or Ward-Kovalev should happen by the end of 2014.

Who has Kovalev beat to become the best at 175? He's the best 175lber on HBO. I'll give you that.

Yeah, I don't think that was just in the context of Golovkin and Quillin, but also in the context of GBP/Scahefer/Haymon (Stevenson/Main Events lawsuit).

Because when asked about GBP he went on to talk about working with those who share "our vision and our philosophy"...and they probably believe that Haymon still doesn't.

they had damn near 4/5 fights that were candidates for fight of the year last year, without haymons fighters. as for this year, neither show nor hbo have put up much, period. were you trying to point something out with your response?

Agree on both counts. Most of the best fights last year were on HBO, and came pretty cheap. This year not much on either network yet outside of PPV. Crawford Gamboa though.

That's what he was saying between the lines.

We're not in the one-fight business... HBO Boxing is a hit series. You don't buy one episode of Game of Thrones and then let them bid up the second episode. It's a simple philosophy.
HBO doesn't like the one fight deals, and want long-term contracts. Where they know the fighter will be with them for quite some time and at a fixed price that was determined a long time ago. It's the corporation way. They aren't fond of Freelancer types.
