Agree...but I haven't been one digging into Stevenson for taking Hopkins first either. I also thought Fonfara was a legit defense and said all along people were way underselling it. Is he ducking Kovalev? A bit, but that doesn't mean that fight won't happen when it gets bigger.

I've also said taking a big payday like Cotto before GGG is fine. if no GGG after, especially if GGG beats geale...that will be critique time.

    I'm fairly consistent.

Froch has some very rich options on the table besides Ward, all of them tough fights (Chavez the easiest on paper, DeGale IMO the toughest). If he quit tomorrow, he'd be able to say he fought everyone in his era really. He can't say he beat them all. Needs Ward II for a chance at that. His resume is unassailable to me and his bad ass stripes are long proven.

Right. But he had no problem making his mandatory against Groves.

S o let's stop acting like Froch has been on a murderous row as of late.
Groves was his mandatory challenger and he made in the region of £8-10 million for the rematch. He'll make a ridiculous amount to fight Chavez Jr.

How much did Stevenson get to face Forfarna? Who the *** is Forfarna anyway? LOL

Fonfara was a good fighter and proved it. No need to ding him. Tough bastard who has improved steadily over the years.

I don't get why everyone pretends Ward is a factor in this moment though. HE CAN'T FIGHT because he's in a tussle with his promoter. Until that's cleared up, and Froch knows this, it's all just needling.

Stevenson moved up in weight. If he'd stayed at 168, Froch would have had to have fought him or drop his IBF title. Please keep up.

Unification? Didn't he vacate the title to fight Kessler? Who cares, the point being he doesn't seem to want the riskier fights. Stevenson was and is. KOing everybody and he didn't want the risk, be it for money or not. He knows he can't beat, so again he's using money as an excuse. If he wanted to fight Ward in Wembley, Ward would have no choice but to accept, but he didn't even propose that as an option which means he doesn't want to fight Ward period.

Just because he made Stevenson look average doesn't mean it was a good match-up to take.

Stevenson took a lesser fight for less money. It's not comparable at all to what Carl Froch is doing or has been doing.

And yes it's all a bit moot since Ward can't even fight.
