We won't see Top Rank dealing with Haymon though.
How many of those fighters do you think can make profit right now though? Sure, established names like Cotto and Marquez can do it, but what about all the young unknown guys? They need to be built up...What promoter is going to invest into them if they can't sign them to a long term deal? Doesn't make any sense from the promoter's point of view.

The money spent on young unknown guys is so small. They make peanuts, literally. So the risk just isn't there as far as the investing goes. And in professional boxing, fighters switch Promoters often. We saw this with Pacquaio. We saw this with Bradley. We saw this with Mayweather. And the list goes on.

Jesse Vargas was with Mayweather Promotions, then left and signed to Top Rank. Promoters aren't usually signing young unknown prospects to long term deals anyhow.

He is the next big PPV star and has many years of boxing left.

Al haymon will have to do business with GBP if he wants to get his fighters big pay days against Canelo in the future.

I'm glad Oscar wants to work with ALL the promoters out there. I'm not a fan of this cold war crap.

Bring on Canelo vs GGG, Cotto, Martinez at 160
outside Canelo they should find more Mexican Stars ala MAB and EM during their FW days....

You sure you mean that literally?

If so, and Haymon's got these guys fighting for Dumbo wages, then he's even better than everyone thought.

How is Oscar screwed? Do Haymon fighters get in the ring to fight themselves? You idiot.

Young unknown fighters don't make money man. It's soooooo little. You got trainers that train a lot of prospects practically for FREE because their fighters have and make nothing. It's only the elite fighters that make great money.

Al haymon's list doesnt matter. He's just a manager. It's the promoter who creates money for the fighter. Can Al haymon offer danny garcia 3M. I dont think so but GBP and Top rank can easily do that. At the end of the day, the fighter will go to the promoter who can offer them the biggest dolla (granting they are not signed with any promoter). And as a manager, Al should not be a hindrance and should always look for the biggest opportunities for his fighters. They said he's a good manager, so he should know that already.

I'm just wondering why you used "peanuts, literally".

Cotto's one of the top attractions in the sport...and a boxer Top Rank has worked with almost his entire pro career.

That's a little bit different situation.

And still, the point was, are Haymon's boxers really going to be satisfied on SHO, with no shot at moving up to HBO, and working under the banner of a lesser promoter like a Goossen or Michel, if it comes to that?

Peanuts is not money. And it was just a figure of speech.

imho if Al haymon wont have an allegiance with a promotion, as soon as Floyd retires he will loose his influence....
