I thought floyd had that date, then TR complained to the Nevada commission and they rescinded and then GBP got it again, presumably for Canelo v Cotto/Martinez winner if he beats Lara or Canelo v Cotto should both lose their next fight.
Yeah I haven't been following. Something will probably be worked out. With Canelo fighting in July, GBP has no use for the date anymore.
Why wouldn't it be enforceable? De La Hoya has one of the best lawyers out. You're saying there is a loophole in one of the agreements he wrote up?
Plus think about this for a second. Schaefer holds a large block of shares at GBP. He can vote. So you're telling me he can drive across the street and start up another company? He can use his voting powers at GBP to destroy the company for the benefit of his other business.
This is the perfect example of why a non-compete HAS to be enforceable. If one exists of course.
First of all, what I meant when I said I doubt if this is true is that I think this guy made this tweet up without any inside knowledge of the situation. Boxing bloggers do that on a regular basis and no one ever calls them out on it.
Secondly, I believe if there were a non-compete clause in the contract, Schafer would have made sure it was negotiated out of their agreement when the were negotiating the terms of his departure if Schafer planned to continue to work in the boxing field. As far as the stock is concerned, I am sure the departure agreement says he would have to sell his stock in GBP if he plans to go to work for another promoter or in any capacity related to boxing.
Third, non-compete clauses are usually non-enforceable if they interfere with a person's right to make a living. I signed one once, but when I left the company, I went to work for a different company a few months later because the non-compete agreement was not enforceable because it would have kept me from making a living. I don't think this will be an issue because I believe that Schafer would have been smart enough to get rid of it as part of his resignation negotiation.

He still has the issue of being a shareholder though who can still vote and go to meetings. Being an employee finding another job is one thing. Being a shareholder who can vote on corporate matters is totally different.
I suspect that there is plenty of fighters that has signed with Haymon and, courtesy of Schaefer, is out of a contract with GBP. That would be the battlefield. If Schaefer as CEO of GBP did not act in the best interest of the company he was leading, those fighters would likely not be able to fight during a lawsuit.
Mayweather should be ok. With the kind of money he generates, there's always a way.
The fighters wouldn't be prevented from fighting because there's no contract to enforce.
Which one did I mention a recycled fight? Name one.
Here's what I mentioned at random, have you seen these fights?
Broner vs Matthysse
Maidana vs Garcia
Thurman vs Porter
Maidana vs Matthysse
Khan vs Broner
Berto vs Porter...
Are you following boxing or just Pacman and TR fighters?
Far from certain that all those guys will go with Haymon. I watched an interview with Matthysse on Argentinian TV (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0ngpXg4-H8) recently where he talks about how much he respects Oscar, and he didn't seem too eager to thank Haymon after his last fight.
Since Haymon has been preparing for all this he's probably a step ahead in terms of having these fighters tied down, but I think there's a bidding war coming all the same. GBP are free to offer promotional contracts to these guys now. As are Top Rank, incidentally.
