Miguel Cotto overrated?

He's a good fighter. Not what some people make him out to be. He's lost every big fight since Mosley.
Maidana would wreck him IMO. I don't see him beating Khan or Thurman either.

There are a lot of guys in this sport who are overrated or overly-appreciated by fans.
Miguel Cotto is not one of them.
He has the honorable distinction of being the only guy in the recent era that I can think of who has went out of his way to fight anybody and everybody the fans ever wanted to see him fight. He's moved up in weight multiple times to challenge himself against bigger champions and proven superstars alike.
If anything, he doesn't get enough respect and adoration.
It doesn't matter if he's your favorite fighter or your most hated fighter - Boxing would be in much better shape if more guys followed in his footsteps.
Regarding his resume - He's beaten damn near everybody he's fought and only came up short against guys like Margarito, Pacquiao, Mayweather, and Trout. His resume is actually quite stacked.

His resume is underrated on here and I hate hearing that Mosley and Clottey weren't clear wins. The majority CLEARLY had Cotto wining both of those fights.
And they only one who makes him out to be a legend on here is me and Da Boxer. Saturday will just confirm what we both know.
Nice avyWhat a bitch.

And don't say beating Pacquiao or Mayweather because they're easily two of the most fantastic fighters the sport has ever produced, so it's no knock on anybody to have lost to them.

Overrated by some, underrated by many.
With a fighter like Cotto I feel he'd actually get more credit if he ducked. A lot echo well hes lost most of his big fights. That is because he fights the best and all these bad style match ups, he don't duck anybody.
Pac, Floyd, Trout, Margs, Sergio even a lesser fighter in say Judah just bad style match ups but he dares to be great.
One things for sure nobody can say he ducked so and so or didn't fight the best of his era.

And there were quite a few fights Miguel missed. He won a vacant title at every weight and never unified or became the number one guy at any weight. He didn't fight Tszyu, Hatton or Mayweather at 140. Didn't fight Paul Williams at 147. Who did he even really fight at 154 except Mayweather? The Rabbi? A shot, half-retired Mayorga? A one eyed zombie Margarito? All the while, Sergio was willing to come down to meet him.
