Should the Cruiserweight division go away/reduced in limit?

I would like the Cruiser Weight division to be reduced in weight limit from 200 lbs to may be 190lbs, which was it's original limit at the time of it's inception in 1980.

Huck, Cunningham, Krystof and Pablo etc all put up great fights, but if they had the tag of "Heavyweight" they'd be more cared about. So, in a way the Cruiser weight division is getting in the way of good heavyweight fights.

    So, what do you say?

Maybe make it some odd number further from HW so its not just a "little HW" division that no one cares about like 187lb limit for bigger guys who no way are making 175 but are too small for HW to fight there and can make this weight. I am talking about guys who walk around at 195-210.

it's fine as it is. the guys you mentioned can already fight at heavyweight if they want to but are not being forced to fight at heavyweight ... weighing like 195 and being forced to fight a guy who weighs 250 ain't exactly sweet.

I'd say pick it up to 210 and add a division at 190

The Cruiserweight is very necessary, the gap in weight between the top heavyweights today and light-heavyweight is enormous. Historically that was not the case. The division has also been far more entertaining than the heavyweight division in recent years.

Am I right in assuming you want to market some cruiser weights as heavyweights? But the problem is they are too small against the really big guys in the division.

I think the solution should be to create a professional super heavyweight division for the guys that dwarth traditional sized heavyweights.

I think its hard, I've done my bit at Cruiser and although I've hurt bigger HW's, we always wore 16oz gloves, I really wouldn't want to be punched by a guy who weighs 240lbs+ when I was around 204lbs with 8oz gloves.

It's not easy and it can be done, the guys I spar with have told me on multiple occasions I hit harder than the HW's they spar with but at 5'10 I don't like being in with a guy over 6'3 and a reach way longer, its ridiculously hard to get into range with the BIG guys.

I like CW and i'll continue to spar at that weight with other Cruisers.

I think you know you're limits and mine is at CW anything more is out of my comfort zone.

HW= unlimited so a SHW division would just be what we commonly call HW now and your version of the HW division would be what we currently call the CW division.

this has been brought up before. it's a flawed idea. the heavyweight division is sparse enough without dividing it up further. there are only 4 or 5 big guys who are any good anyway and if you took the klits out of the equation the heavyweight champ for the last few years would probably have been circa 210-230 pounds. haye/povetkin/chag etc
