"Of course, Showtime was on this track in 2012 as well. Back then, no one was considering the idea that Showtime was competing head-on with HBO.

A single fighter changed that perception. In 2012, HBO led the way on cable and on pay-per-view. But when Floyd Mayweather signed a six-fight, 30-month contract with the promotion in February 2013, Showtime became the industry leader in pay-per-view overnight.

While HBO still features the top pay cable fights, Mayweather's record-breaking bout with Canelo Alvarez in September 2013 outsold HBO and Showtime's other PPV shows combined, making Showtime an immediate force."

Yes I saw this. Signing floyd has been good for SHowtime. Ghost and Maidana didn't make what they thought but Canelo did much better than expected.

If floyd had fought these sasme fights on HBO they may have sold between 4.1 and 4.4 million in total. HBO lost out on that.

I don't know if CBS/sho will succeed in sho becoming the #1 boxing network. If you look at Fat dan's article on GBP breakup it points out HBO helped pay Manny's siging bonus. Obviously, they don't want to see manny fight floyd on showtime. that would be another 2-3 mil ppv's the miss out on.

SHort term, siging floyd away was a good move. Long term, we will see.

The article should point a posible fight between Lara and Pacquiao. Canelo will loose. Well, let me recap because GB and Arum have specialty making special fights with the loosers instead of the winners. That happened before with angulo and Doanire after their losts. This sport is crazy jajaja

My bad, I didn't know you were only counting A-sides. Ok, then we'll see how Canelo does next month!

But it showed he was still a lil behind Manny with an equal level opponent. He gets another shot here with Lara. Let's see what happens.
Compared to who? Angulo and rios? Uh..... that's a definite possibility. But you're painting him about to be some star in the sport, comparable to Floyd, manny, canelo.... which is completely ridiculous and flat out wrong if so..

So first you wanna compare Canelos 2014 numbers to Pacquiao 2014 numbers but then you don't wanna count the Bradley 2 numbers?

Whos really twisting them? I personally don't care how many buys Canelo vs Lara does because its a good fight. But unless he does 1 million he has no case when it comes to the A-Side, that's the only point I'm trying to make
But your point is wrong. Just like it would have been wrong last year to use Floyd's numbers with Canelo and compare them to Pac's numbers with Rios as a concrete example of their drawing power. And that's basically what you're doing throwing Bradley into the equation with Angulo and Lara.

OOOOOOOOHHH this is FEAR;he fought XYLOCAINE MAN at 152 and he doesn't want a former flyweight under 154???? ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhh what a slap in the face of the past opponent;THIS MEANS:
                I CAN FIGHT THAT SOFT HITTER,ATG DUCKER AT 152 BUT I CAN'T FIGHT PAC-MAN UNDER 154 BECAUSE I CAN'T TAKE HIS SPEED!

If you read all of my posts. I clearly said Bradley isn't a draw. But he's known to mainstream media and casual fans. Where guys like Rios, Angulo, and Lara aren't. So when paired with a draw, Bradley will sale more than any of those guys and not a fair comparison.

Unfortunately, fights of this magnitude in this era of boxing. Establishing the A-side of the promotion is huge. And often times prevents fights from happening if the lesser star isn't willing to be dictated to.
