Agree with this. People fell in love with Cotto for whatever reason. Obviously Puerto Ricans, but his resume is nothing special. If he makes the HOF it's because his fame.
Come on buddy, you need to stay away from the bad weed. This has to be one of the dumbest post all year in this message board.
You are not concise or witty enough to be a boxing journalist. I barely struggled through all that slag. I feel I deserve a reward or something, I literally feel like I'm the only one that read all that.
Cotto did not win 5 rounds against Mayweather, any way you slice it.
I'm a fan of Cotto's, as I am a fan of many boxers. I find his 3rd person way of referring to himself highly annoying, and also question the fact he flaunts himself in a physical capacity in 24/7's to a mythical female boxing fan base (don't think many females sitting down ordering ppv's and they mostly just go to the events to be seen), and presumably ****sexuals. It seems like a sellout of sorts, a fringe corruption to his marriage, which consequently makes me question his integrity and moral character. This is all further validated by Martinez alleging that Cotto treats people like servants.
None of this would be important if I'm just watching a fight and enjoying the style match ups..the guts.. The glory ect. . But to have the level of dedication that you profess to Miguel "Angel" Cotto, I would need to be in some sort of accord with how he conducts himself, which I am not. Sorry.

He is a hof'er though. I'll agree with that.
Ummmm what?
I'm talking about Cotto's accomplishments inside the ring and your talking ****sexuality, marriage, servants. I feel like I deserve a reward after reading all your slag.
I was fcking around when I said I should start a career as a writer, sarcasm baby.
You are right, I don't have what it takes to be a writer. The writers are a bunch of puppets that keep their mouths shut when they don't agree with somenthing, just to be on the good side of the promoters and fighters.
I think if you say Cotto doesn't get into the HOF partially due to his popularity you're being disingenuous. I mean, there isn't a particular fight or win that gets him in so some of it definitely has to be attributed to his consistent, supportive and ever loving fan base. Without Ward, Gatti wasn't getting in to the HOF. That's clear as day. We can't do that with Cotto though. Margarito hardly suffices in that regard.
Anybody that thinks Miguel Cotto does not belong in the Hall of Fame has completely lost their mind. This man is a 4 time world champion in 3 different divisions, with the possibility of a fourth division title this Saturday. And he has accomplished all of this while fighting the best that boxing has had to offer in his era. He has never ducked anybody, always comes to fight, and has never made excuses when he lost a fight. There are plenty of fighters in the HOF with more questionable resumes than that of Miguel Cotto. There is no way anybody can reasonably say he is not a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Just in case anybody tries to question his resume, let's run down a quick list of former/current champs or world title challengers Cotto has fought during his career:
And I may still be missing some... He has taken on all comers, and has never let anything get in the way of negotiating a fight. No other fighter on the list of his opponents can make the same claim. Cotto=HOF.. It's not even a question.
