Donaire beat Darch, Hernan Marquez, Mthalane, Sydorenko, Montiel, Narvaez (yes, I know he moved up in weight), Mathebula and Nishioka (yes, I know he was old). If that's not a respectable resume, I don't know what is.

But you are clearly one of those people who can only think in extremes. For you a fighter is either the GOAT or a hypejob. There's no middle ground.
nishikoa wanted to retire and used donaire as his last fight and ddin't fight for a year

matherbula beat donaire up and he just lost to kiko

donaire opponents are nothing impressive, and he wins in least impressively.

The Darchinyan rematch was just appalling though. So bad it almost took the shine off Rigo's win. He saved himself with the knockout and he gets his due for that, but it was a dreadful performance. Donaire's fighting for relevance now and he cannot afford a defeat. Not by any stretch of the imagination.
cut him some slack bro, donaire claims he was having a kid so it's hard for him to prepare. LOL. Donaire is a buffoon.

this is not true. filipinos do like him, but like with all races of people, ur gonna have some that dont like him and that goes for everyone, whites, blacks, mexicans, etc. donaire just gets less support because he doesnt really talk about the philipines, so most of his fans are fan because they like him not because they're the same race.

face it HBO tried to make DUMBO a star and he was never that. all his interviews are cringeworthy.

Look, no one can fight P4Pers ALL THE TIME. Even an old Nishioka is a decent enough win. And how does Math losing to Kiko make Donaire's win over him irrelevant? Btw he didn't "beat Donaire up", he lost that fight clearly.

Donaire KO'd prime Darch, and Darch went on to unify the jr. BW division and become a major player at BW. He also blitzed Montiel, the consensus #1 BW at the time.

But who cares about these when you have the Arce and Nishioka wins to nitpick?

If PAC didn't happen to come along and be one of boxings GOATs then donaire would be tabbed as the "pride of the Philippines" rather than manny. I actually seen where donaire had a couple commercials in the Philippines (one of em was mcdonalds actually), so he can't be all that unpopular as you people claim he is there. In all honesty nonito is a good good fighter he's just not the stuff of legends like somebody else we know. He'll always play second fiddle but he still deserves credit for what's he's done in the sport. As far as relevance goes yes donaire does need to win most the rest of the fights left in his career (doubt it happens) lest he becomes a Chris John whereby his record is great, just full of nobodies. I just don't see donaire beating the gamboas or the rigos or anybody above LW division.

Agree with everything but this part. Donaire is FAR more accomplished than Chris John, regardless of what he does in the rest of his career. The only reason I don't say it's ridiculous to even compare their resumes is because John has that (borderline robbery) win over JMM.

Btw if Donaire beats Vetyeka impressively, I will give him a good chance at beating Gamboa. Gamboa is no Rigo, not even close. They are worlds apart in terms of technique.

Donaire is still a top fighter. Is funny how some ppl have been so hard on him for the Rigo loss. Rigo is a great fighter and you simply can't win them all. Nonito has problems with movers but if his heart is not into boxing no more like it has been lately he won't do well.

If he is still mentally there I expect him to do another good run

The arrogance of this idiot. Does double M means Mental Midget? Is your other name chicano box? You spew the same hate towards him. Do you know him personally? And who are you to say that he has no fan at all? Would HBO/Arum pay him that much if he has no fan who pays to see him fight? He is the only fighter in the super bantam and below to be paid over a mil in a fight. $1.5m against Regon. You are nothing but an envious hater.

And he has several commercials in the Phil. As one poster said, one is for Mcdonalds. What does that mean, no fan? Idiot! Next to Pac, he is the most popular boxer in the Phil
