Someone like GGG could become the main stream star Asia needed.
I've just moved back from living in Tokyo and let me tell you Asians don't cheer for fighters from different countries because their ethnically similar. Those countries don't like each other, In fact the biggest insult in Japan is to call someone Chinese. So nobody in Japan or China is going to get hyped for Golovkin, I doubt many in Korea would either as he's Kazakh first and foremost.

Guys like you said GGG would never catch on in New York. Guess what he is selling out MSG now.
I think most of those supporters were either Filipino, or Chinese there to see zou shimming. Not that they didn't appreciate seeing manny, but I'm just questioning how well a manny card would do in another Asian country (not the Philippines) without the support of a local fighter or being a ******** mecca like Macao.

Guys like me have also enjoyed watching Golovkin. I'm just disagreeing in how far he can grow the sport. I hope I'm wrong but I can't see him being a 1m+ PPV star on his own like manny and Floyd have been.

This is the summer GGG becomes the new face of boxing. I predict a PPV with Chavez does over 1 million buys later this year after the TR contract is worked out. GGG is already sellling out MSG and his english is getting really good.
I thought his English got worse since he was gone.... Still sounds funny as he'll though

lol, For GGG to take over he's going to have to beat Andre Ward and thats not happening. GGG is probably going to be like the last guy max kellerman would pop a boner for, zab judah.

Canelo folds Lara in half, Geale likely beats GGG, and Martinez will devour Cotto to establish order to the MW division.

GGG will indeed become the face of boxing however he isn't selling 1m ppv's anytime soon.

You're forgetting he isn't an American, A Mexican, A Brit, or a Filipino for that matter.
Kazakhstan doesn't follow boxing like the other nations. It's suck for him that the nationality thing makes a difference to his fanbase in terms of home crowd and worldwide stardom but he is and will remain a heck of a fighter.
