Using MSG is supposed to be ridiculously expensive though. I know the theater costs like $100k to use. The big arena I read is supposed to be at least 300k. It's going to be difficult to turn a profit.

MSG's location and it's established rep is supposed to command a premium to host events in there. I wish I could remember a source (might have been a maxboxing podcast), but barclays is supposed to be significantly cheaper being new and all. And I guess GB's output deal would give them a good price. There's a reason why only Miguel Cotto ever fights at the big arena. If you're not a star, you can't just make tickets super cheap hoping to fill up the place because it's expensive as hell to use.

I'd have to guess K2 will consider this an investment just to build up his fanbase hoping it will pay off in the future.

I think staging it in the big room is a bit risky. Golovkin's biggest audience has been what, five thousand? Now he's fighting in a twenty thousand person venue. I'm not sure if he has the drawing power to fill the big room at the Garden.
