some people prefer guys who pick and chose their opponents/avoid the best and go undefeated as a result. Others prefer guys that take on all comers even though they may lose the odd one now and then.
I agree. thats why I always respected guys like dlh and mosely who risked there undefeated records fighting the best at there best instead of cherry picking like mayweather
Well if you continue to fight among the elite, there's no shame in losing. Of course, the whole point is to win. You won't find one boxer who wouldn't want to be undefeated.
Suppose it depends on the opposition, the timing, the manner.
But having losses on your record..nah, not at all. Almost all the greats had them. Ali..Hearns, Hagler, Duran, Leonard, Robinson had them because they faced their feared rivals and challenged themselves. Nothing but respect for fighters like that.
If you are a boxer with an Olympic background or a hyped up prospect in general then yes, but if you are Jhonney Gonzalez or Orlando Salido and have to literally punch your way to the top then no. Why? Cuz no one really gave you a chance anyways. How many rated Salido to be something when he was 6-5-1?
