if they are honourable losses, it can enhance a fighters legacy
and it can work against a fighter when comparing fighters e.g. ward is greater than froch imo and pacquaio is greater than mayweather largely because of resume but partly because mayweather ducked mannyComment

Depends on the context surrounding the loss. There's certain fighter you can't possibly lose to if you aspire to be great. On the other hand there's no shame losing to another good/great fighter specially if it's a competitive fight.
The more a fighter challenges themselves the higher probability there is of losing.Comment

this. also i don't count losses that happen early in a fighter's career since they're still usually young and inexperienced.Depends on the context surrounding the loss. It depends on the context... who they lost to and the circumstances. In some cases an honorable loss enhances a fighter's profile. In other cases, a single loss can destroy a fighter's aura of invulnerability and (they lose confidence in themselves) end up losing to lesser fighters.Comment
