  • Comments Thread For: Klitschko's Manager: Stiverne is Wlad's Target, Not Pulev

Bernd Boente, manager of WBO/IBF/IBO/WBA heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, says they are targeting a unification bout against newly crowned WBC champion Bermane Stiverne. Boente says a fight with IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev is secondary.

Pulev's promoter, Kalle Sauerland, will look to get Klitschko stripped if he doesn't move forward with his obligation against Pulev, but Boente doesn't seem worried. Klitschko is targeting a potential return date in September.

    Dammit...

I'm all for unifying, but I don't want Pulev to get jobbed of his title shot yet again. Wladimir should just sit back and let Wilder dispose (easily) of Stiverne, get Pulev out of the way himself, then go for a mega-unification in 2015 which will do huge business with an American holding a title. Unless they're wary of matching Wladimir against Wilder?

Also can't forget Fury, who'll be demanding his shot pretty soon after he's done with Chisora.

Wlad wants to fight Stiverne next, and Stiverne wants to fight Wlad.

But it's unlikely to happen next, because 1) the IBF want Wlad to fight Pulev and 2) the WBC want Stiverne to fight Wilder.

If the unification can't be made, just take the Pulev fight and get him out of the way.

Would that make for an undisputed HW champion?

The biggest troublemaker in this political game is probably Don King.

Thats what Im thinking too. I wonder what this ridiculous amount Boente is talking about team Pulev proposing sums up to.

IBF is the only sanctioning body that enforces their mandatories strictly, so Pulev's shot is the real obstacle here.

Boente says Pulev hasn't fought anybody huh?

When the fight is announced, he'll be a great fighter according to team Klitschko.

                  Wait and see.

If I were Boente I would make the following proposals :

                    - Tell to Sauerland that if Klitschko beats Stiverne, they will get a fight in December (14th would be ideal!. And they should find an agreement before the Stiverne fight.

                    - Guarantee Wilder a fight with a 35% share if Klitschko beats both Stiverne and Pulev ( let's say April 2015)
