Benn & Eubank was obviously ridiculously fierce in the build up and in the fights themselves. Especially Nigel Benn, he really couldn't stand Eubank's demeanour.
He had a certain sense of arrogance about him, as if he was a better person than Nigel Benn, not just a better fighter.
I think that comparison can be made to the build up of the first Froch-Groves fight, with George Groves taking the role of Eubank. Similarly to Froch, Benn fought a wrong fight in my opinion, and wanted to win so badly that it hurt his performance.
Obviously a key difference being Froch actually won the first fight and Benn didn't.
Now British broadcasters like to compare every rivalry in the UK to Benn/Eubank - and if they are heavyweights - Lewis/Bruno.
Everytime I hear someone mention it, it reminds me of an old pop song that was good for about 5 minutes before I never wanted to hear it again. Ever.
Now - Which rivalry was biggest? And why?
