The theory that Floyd would carry Maidana to "make things look interesting" by taking liver shots on the ropes is about the dumbest thing I've seen yet on boxing scene.

He was caught off guard by Maidana's ability to fight at a distance where most fighters are smothered, he got hurt a little, he recovered, started controlling the range, won on points. Simple.

Either way, Anyone who knows boxing knows Maidana is nowhere near Floyd's level. We all know he hits hard. Floyd knew this too and could have dodged every punch but he knew to make it entertaining he'd need to let Maidana land a couple shots here and there for a few rounds.

So let him wear heavier gloves. Let him **** Floyd up for a few rounds and then take him to boxing school. Please don't take it personally because I am talking about Floyd and Maidana and not you. Thanks!

On paper, yes.

In the ring, not as much as you wanted it to be. Here's the thing, Mayweather is the TBE on paper also until he actually fights (against his agenda) the fights that he supposed to.

He's got skills but so does other fighters. With Cotto, Castillo and Caidana (er, Maidana)....and of course Cudah (Judah), he probably lost already too. Certainly not TBE in many people's eyes and certainly not in many pugilistic ambassadors' assessments until he can prove it.

But to be fair, he's got one of the best defensive skills ever....but that doesn't mean he is the TBE, because it is largely unproven.

So yes, ON PAPER he is, because he marketed and engineered his career to be so by an agenda.

People who know boxing know that Floyd went into the fight with Chino with a plan to make it exciting. Floyd is so far and above Maidana's level that if Floyd fought to the best of his ability it would have been the same as his other fights. The truth is, Floyd planned on letting Maidana land a few glancing blows here and there and so he knew to insist on bigger gloves because he wanted to give us all quality entertainment and is TBE

I don't buy into that theory at all pertaining to the Maidana fight but seeing how easily he outboxed Cotto for the first 5-6 rounds, can't remember, there could be some truth to it. I think that was more of him trying to prove how superior he was and it backfired somewhat, take the 8th round for example where Mayweather came out strong, he tried to do serious damage that round but Cotto never let up.

Also he went to Sr. because of Roger's health, even now he's literally yelling at Roger constantly as he's discontent with the mitt work. Kind of sad if you pay attention to it closely.
