Is Andre Ward the most overrated fighter currently?

It's ignorant to let personal feelings about the guy blind you as to his talent. He's probably the most talented fighter on the planet. Just unfortunate that his early prime years are being shelved.

Ward is definitely overrated.

When Joe Calzaghe left the division, there was a gaping hole at SM, the division needed a star to carry it.

This is why the super 6 was done. Froch, Ward, Dirrel, as well as Kessler and Abraham got their standing elevated just by participating in the tournament.

None of them could have been considered great back then, and only really Kessler was on the fringes of world class, but not quite there.

Ward fought all his fights at home in the tournament that allowed him to get away with butting elbow and holding tactics that would have seen him get points deducted if not DQed if fighting in a neutral arena.

Lets face it, Ward's best win is Froch, who in spite of all his bravery and warrior spirit has numerous flaws in his boxing technique.

Ward's win over Dawson is tainted because he drained him, and lets face it Dawson is no special fighter.

Ward has only ever competed at SM, whilst guys like Martinez, Pacquiao, Marquez and many others, have moved up through the weights fighting and beating bigger guys.

Ward rarely gets a KO and spoils a lot which he can only get away with because of hometown refs.

Great fighters can go anywhere and fight, out box opponents not spoil their game, get KOs and move up through the weights.

Ward has not done any of this, but for some reason some of you have him at p4p no2


He needs to fight and he needs to fight big names and win titles at multiple weight classes as well as fight in his opponents backyard at time to time.


When you look at his resume, it pretty poor compared to the other p4p top 10 fighters.

Ward has skills but doesn't make it into the top 5 p4p for me.

I cant name 3 fighters better than Andre Ward. Mayweather and maybe a Rigondeaux as far as skills are the only 2. I know hes been inactive but cmon if you forgot put on the tape. I might be going out on a limb here but Ward is pretty damn good at boxing just saying.

And Pacquiao being better than Ward? Maybe on Pacland not Earth though.

Pacquiao's much better than Ward, and he's better than Floyd too but not as much better than Floyd as he is with Ward.

Faster feet, faster hands, more p4p power, better pivoting footwork, just an all round much more talented fighter.

168 is also an overrated division and the only one he's ever campaigned at.

He is so overrated.

Don't get me wrong he's a good fighter and all, but not p4p number two imo.

He's not as good as Pacquiao, and doesn't have the consistency of Vladimir Klitschko.

He doesn't have the wow factor, his speed isn't that great nor is his power...

His so called ''skillz'' consist of spoiler tactics, what he does well is measure his opponents...

Very overrated if you ask me, I reckon Groves would do a number on him.

Hell no he is not overrrated.. Ward earned his spot in the sport, and is better than 99% of boxers out there..

Yeah he in kinda inactive and only fights about once a year now, but that doesnt mean his skills have declined or he is somehow a lesser fighter..

Floyd, hopkins, and many more fighters were only fighting once a year or so at times in their careers, and it didnt hurt their standing in the sport, i dont know why it would effect ward...
