Then, he was about to fight Ortiz in what could have been a hell of a fight only to have those plans spoiled by Lopez, and to Canelo's credit he was a man of his word and fought the winner.

Also, he was on his way to fight Cotto for a big money fight, only to have those plans derailed by Trout? To his credit, he went on to fight Trout which most thought he'd lose to and ended up beating him in a close fight.

After all that, he went on to fight The P4P King, no shame in losing to TBE, and went on to redeem himself by beating the living crap out of a game Angulo. He's now facing the man EVERYBODY accused him of ducking. Can't knock the kid...he is doing what Oscar De La Hoya and other ATG's did to be considered legends.
Sums it all up for me.

    Can't knock Canelo.

Incorrect opinion? So lara didn't chase canelo for a fight? Did canelo fly around the country showing up to Lara's press conferences asking him for a fight?

Face it, Lara backed canelo into a corner, not the other way around.

Canelo definitely has an old school mentality. His boxing status is more important than his financial status. Back in the days it was all about the best fighting the best. And you could tell Canelo has that in him. He's made a fan outta me because of it.

If there is one person that can carry the sport after Floyd's gone it's Canelo.

Why the **** would Canelo chase Lara around and crash his press conference? Lara did chase Canelo around but at the of the day it was Canelo's fight to make.

I can't bring myself to like Canelo but he deserves credit for the fights he's made happen. Would be a great thing for the sport if more guys would act like him in this respect.

It's good that he's finally stepping up his game though, but it most certainly does not mean he was ducking good comp for a while there. Same for Chavez before he fought Martinez. Their handlers didn't think they were ready.
I think that was GBP choosing his opponents, I believe Canelo himself is in charge now.

I wonder how many PPV viewers he will lose if/when he loses to Lara.

He's the typical prizefighter that goes for the biggest name/money fight available.

Trout - Just came off of beating Cotto making the top name - fought him
Mayweather - big money - fought him
Angulo - Come back fight, first PPV as a-side
Cotto - Wanted him, was not available, fought the next available decent 'name' - Lara

Canelo is blessed to have such charisma and popularity, therefore he attracts the popular fighters.

There's nothing old school about him unless you're aware that old school fighters went for the biggest names possible.

Canelo vs Kirkland was also verbally agreed on but then the very next day Kirkland backed out asking for more money at first. Then he said he can't fight because of a shoulder injury, which was from the Molina fight. Probably from all the hugging, tugging, pulling of Molina and his style.
